Mining League Div. 3

Cornish New Boys 2 .v. Trevenson Utd Res. 2

New Boys second half pressure saw them grab a fortunate draw against us as we just couldn't find the third goal to kill them off. Trevenson played some great football in the first half to go in at the break two up after goals from Stu Rule with a header from a corner and Shaun Wilkins who headed home after a great cross from Shane Davis. Most of New Boys attacking play was sniffed out by the Trevenson defence and our midfield tracking back well to deny space, indeed New Boys best chances came from set pieces when they could get players forward in numbers. Playing down the slope in the second half New Boys' midfield started to come into the game a lot more with some tidy movement and slick passing but again we managed to hold firm and stop any meaningful efforts on goal. Good work down the right flank saw their first goal come about after they managed to get the ball to an unmarked player in the box to smash home. The equaliser came with about 10 mins to go when Trevenson 'keeper Nathan Hick called the ball under pressure but couldn't get enough on it to clear and the ball dropped in the net. The game was played in great spirit and we wish all at Cornish New Boys well for the remainder of the season.

On a personal note, my apologies to Gorgie. You were in a much better position than me to call the off-side!! I just wanted to win mate!! All the best.

Mining Three:

West Cornwall (5) 10, Wendron Vs (0) 0

Well beaten by a good team with a lot of pace and penetration about them. We were understrength again with no goalkeeper and a bare eleven, and I suppose we were beaten before we turned up. Good luck to West Cornwall, good bunch of lads.

good solid team performance, was key to this win, against a spirited tms.which probably was not at full strength...but you still have to beat what,s in front of you...but at least they kept their heads up to the end..

but sennen where never really tested, but an important three points all the same...

it also looks like we went to the wrong pub...later found out tms go back to the social club, though we were never told....and ended up in the victoria..all the best to tms for remainder of their season..

Holmans 0 -7 Newlyn NA

Just the kind of game the Crabs needed after last week's slip-up. Scoring after two minutes through a Callum Mitchell free-kick helped, although we then ended up playing terribly for the remainder of the half against a Holmans team that started with 10 men.

Mitchell then scored directly from a corner just after half-time, before Will Wiltshire made it 0-3 with a cool finish. The game became quite bizarre as the Holmans boys seemed to give up and Newlyn still didn't really raise their game. Adam Strowger scored the fourth from close range, before Andy Palmer added a fifth with a header. Mitchell got his hat-trick with a 35 yard lob over the Holmans keeper who played solidly throughout with little protection. Palmer tapped home the 7th just before the end.

A bizzare game, in which Pete Bainbridge in the Newlyn goal had little to do. Newlyn won comfortably without ever really playing that well. It's been a tough week with several key players getting injured at a crucial stage, and so many were playing in different positions than they are used to. The return of Coco Lapham is a big boost for the remainder of the season.

Good solid performance from the defence considering how few games they have played together as a back four.

ST Just 0 v 6 Troon AFC

Troon changed thier formation today to try a new one, as we are comfortable with the one we have been playing with! so why not!! to be honest we didnt start great, we had a few chances, but made a few slack mistakes at the back which could of cost us, but didnt!! danny bell and shane richards were always going to be a threat up front, and caused the st just defence trouble early on, but the lads up front for st just gave as good as they got, and were pretty good lads on the ball.

after 25 mins the ball was chucked in from a corner and broke loose on the corner of the 18 yard box for jamie "Bigboy" marles to whack a half volley into the top laft hand corner! a screamer even if i do say so myself!!

matthew harris was showing his age in the sideline and at one point even got his pocket camera out and took a picture of a "flowering daffodil" which amused him for 3 minutes, exactly!then he was looking at the fine construction work previously done at st just and you could just tell he was eyeing up a 2nd stadium for the club, although the wind soon picked up so he changed his mind very quickly!!! lol

troon were putting st just under more presure, lots of good work from richard scott, and gary bell in the middle of the park was causing st just trouble, woody at left back was pinging some good balls up the line for stevie proctor, and shane to run onto also.

the ball broke down the left and jamie marles latched onto it, and then hit a screamer into the top left, again......!! ok ok it may of been a bit of a cross, but still, it looked awesome!! lol!

danny bell hit the cross bar with a great effort, and then gary bell had a attempted lob from the halfway line tipped over! after 40 mins, stevie proctor pounced on a keepers error to make it 3-0 going into half-time.

troon came out of the 2nd half as they left off, and within minutes a fine corner by danny bell was tucked away by the woodster, who is currently on fire, 3 goals..........for the season....!! lol and make it 4-0! stuart smeeth was outstanding at right back, and had a fine effort saved by the "david james" of st just, dodgy.....but great at kick ups?!!! lol

shane richards got on the end of a great cross by smudge, and made no mistake by looping it over the home keeper to make it 5-0. reno was running the line, and doing a fine job, but he was looking for someone to bring off when shane to a knock, so he quickly raised his flag and anticipated the sub!! lol!! he came onto the ptich, and totally changed the game.......troon were under the cosh!!! lol!! no he had a great chance but was found offside. danny bell had an outstanding game, as did his older brother, but it was the youger of the 2 who made the score 6-0, when he hit one from all of 37 1/2 yards to leave the keeper no chance, well he did, but the keeper had no chance as he actually had to do something!!! it went in underneath him to finish the scoring.

Ref watch.....had a good game, poor lino flags though!

beefy and simom opie played well at the back for troon, and also danny mitch in goal never looked like being beat!!

well done to st just for not giving up.

and a big happy birthday to matt harris for his 40th birthday today!!

Division 3

Gulval Res. 2 St. Ives Mariners 2

Gulval 2 nil up in the first half before St. Ives pulled one back before the break. St. Ives equalised near the start of the second half, and that was that. Gulval had several half chances but failed to hit the target, and when they did, the St. Ives keeper managed to scramble clear. A good game, and St. Ives are great bunch of footballers and supporters.

Hope to see them in the final :o

Dispite missing 3 or 4 players today another good soild performance and result against a good Park side doing well in fal hel 2, defended particularly well as a unit everyone did their job, a game well worth playing.

DIVISION 1.

Illogan 3, Threemilestone 1.

Threemilestone leading 1-0 at half time through Nathan Crowle, but Illogan equalised ten minutes into the 2nd half. five minutes later Illogan scored their 2nd. Tms with only a bare eleven put up a brave effort and had a couple of chances to equalise but with several players hobling Illogan dominated the later stages.

Well Done to Illogan, still a while to go but will be worthy champions if they can win the two horse race with Troon, they being their only challengers now. :c:

No probs Damo ;)

Very accurate match report mate, we got out of jail yesterday and with tough away games at Ludgvan and St Buryan combined with Storm and Mariners great form we have a real battle to gain promotion!!

Just like to add a comment about Portreath Reserves game... No referee. Appalling considering the amount of games they still have to go! All that has done is given an even more backlogged end to the season!

If a team don't turn up, they lose the points.. Referee's dont turn up and nothing happens? That should change!!

Halsetown 0 - 2 Crown Inn Glory

Far from being a good game of football, but a hard fought 3 points for the Crown. Despite only having a bare eleven (again) we ground out the result well.

Illogan 3 - 1 Threemilestone

(Johnny Jones (i think), Gareth Pitt and Curly)

Another win but had to work for it as TMS turned up with a bare 11 but worked there ass off the whole game from 1st to last minute.

We havent lost since we played TMS right at the beggining of the season and when we went 1 down I thought they were going to be our a bogey side for the year but fortunately second half we turned it around and bagged 3 goals and got all 3 points which we deserved.

All the best to TMS for the rest of the season good bunch of lads.

no complaints second half we were dire, first half we were the better side even though we we were 1 -0 down, a really bad tackle has put out our wide midfielder out for a few games suprised ref didnt send off

buryans num 3, second half buryan battled and played good football you can see why they are second in league good luck rest off season.

Yeah fair play to illogan, they deserved it in the end and if and when they win the league they'll be worthy winners as they play some good football. But fair play to our boys we made them work for it with a bare 11 (and one of our defenders in goal who played really well)and can take some pride from the workrate and battle during the game from all players involved.

Our man of the match went to Phil Pascoe who had a blinder in the middle of the park considering he ain't played pretty much all season! :c::drink: :yahoo:

GOONHAVERN 3-1 ST AGNES - MINING DIV 2

Once again the Gooners were nowhere near their best, but managed to get the result.

Fair play to the Aggie lads, scrapped hard, and deserved more out of the game.

A good bit of grub after the game in the pub as well, watching the National, and Argyle finally sneaking a win!

Good luck to St Agnes for the rest of the season!
