Played on an AWFUL surface at Weston Mill, the worst in the league by far, and a far cry from Penryn's bowling green, Penryn claimed three points that could have went either way really. A lot of long balls played by both teams due to the poor surface. Vospers could have went in at the break a few goals to the good but some hesitant play from the strikers let them down at the critical moments. Penryn came more into the game after the break and scored the first goal after good work down the left by their striker (easily the best player on the park) who squared the ball for the an easy tap in. Vospers then continued to press the Penryn goal but couldn't break down a pretty resolute back four. Penryns second was slightly contraversial and against the run of play as the striker seemed to come back from an offside position to collect the ball and race through to beat the goalie in a one on one. Vospers continued to press and were rewarded when a long throw was nodded down for Gill to crash in from 8 yards. This then set up a tense finale with Vospers pressing and Penryn looking to hit on the break with their lively front two. But in the end a very scrappy game ended 2-1 in the favour of Penryn and they make the long journey home happy and probably a little relieved after a tricky encounter!!

indeed the surface was one of the poorest around, bobbly and hard, making it hard to play football on. nothing really splitting the teams except the penryn striker as the baptist stated. vospers still moving forward perhaps as they lost 4-1 earlyer in the season to penryn, but still that alousive home victory escapes them.

and is unlikely to come on a surface like that!
