FHFL 3

Caharrack res 2 Wendron IV 5 HT 0-0

Bit of a messy game played at Clijah, 1st half Caharrack probably had the most possession with the wind, we had made a few changes from the previous week and it time to settle, although we had a few good chances to score, poor finishing let us down, and we were probably the happier of the 2 teams to be level at half time.

2nd half started badly for us, when a corner for Caharrack was expertly sliced into the bottom corner of the net by Jimmy 'Donkey of the day' Collins :clapper:. This galvanised us into action, responding quickly thrrough our sub Neil Bartlett, who then proceeded to take the Caharrack defence to pieces with a further 3 goals in the 2nd half. Caharrack were awarded a penalty 15 mins from time when our keeper took out their Striker just inside the area, and being last man received his marching orders. Caharrack converted the penalty and started to push, but it was us that probably had the better chances after this, capped off by a good breakaway goal for alan rogers. Well done to Caharrack, good team you've got there, surprised your down where you are. Good luck for the rest of the season :clapper:

FHFL 2

Carhararck 1 Constantine 5

It was Death or Glory for Carharrack in this FHFL 2 encounter against title contender Constantine.

Having played and lost against Constantine three times this season, it wasn't going to be easy. But this was another 90 minutes and anything was possible.

After some impressive displays youth players Adam Mears and Ash Smeeth were rewarded with there first starts of the season after recently join the club.

Carharrack intended to the game to Constantine knowing they had a final during the week and didn't wish there players to sustain any injuries.

With the referee blowing his whistle to commence play the first incident of the match when Carharrack defender Nicky Palmer gave away a direct free kick to the visitors.

Played continued and some good football ensured by both sides. Constantine took the lead when a corner ball curled directly into the back of the home net leaving keeper Jamie Chown disappointed.

Constantine's second goal came after a series of severe defensive errors gifted the Tine right wingers plenty of time to cross the ball into the box allowing striker Mark Kent the time to place the ball into the back of the net.

A short time after Carharrack's Liam Bray got a goal back after a counter attack went Carharrack's way. The Tine keeper dealt with the initial attack but his clearance feel to Bray who looked up and chipped the ball into the back of the net.

Carharrack subsequently throw away their efforts by allowing the Tine strike force a open half of the pitch in a episode of "When Offside Traps Go Wrong" to go onto take the keeper one on one the outcome was the visitors going in to the interval 3-1 up.

After the interval Carharrack pressed forward to get back at Constantine and for the first time played some great one touch football which has been a delight of the season to see them play.

But as the game progressed Constantine gain momentum and Carhararck's head appeared to drop. Tine's forth came as a mirror of the second goal and could have easily been avoided when a cross was simply not cleared from the error sending keeper Jamie Chown ballistic for allowing the visitors time on the ball to shoot at goal.

Carharrack were having as bad a game as the referee and would admit that it was not our finest hour. Just to add to the misery Jamie then slip at just the wrong time to give Tine the fifth goal, but less said about that the better.

With the final whistle blown we can only admit Constantine were the better side and you can see why they are in the Junior Cup Final. Our season has been mixed and it now looks like any chance of promotion has disappeared but never one to give up it cannot be ruled out but only if we win all our next six games and other above us slip up immensely although the odds are against us in that respect. FHFL 2 has been a tough division for all teams involved this season and consistency has been the key to being top of the table. Carhararck have played well with fantastic determination all season but with an average goal conceded higher than average goals scored, this reflects in a league table that doesn't lie.

But tomorrow is tomorrow and we will forget the last match and looks towards next Saturday's derby match against Frogpool were we will make amends for our last game against them and beat them by some margin.
