West Cornwall 6 - 3 Pendeen Reserves - Cup

Scorers -

Barrett 4 (29 for the season I think?)

Reynolds (got injured scoring but it was all worth it!)

Lander (left foot!!!!)

Some really good attacking football from West Cornwall and more goals should and could've been scored. Pendeen reduced the deficit on three occasions mainly down to a lack of concentration from the West Cornwall defence, but 2nd half they were excellent.

Best of luck to Pendeen for the rest of the season.

Jolly's Shield 1st round

Cornish New Boys 2 St Buryan Res 0

A solid all round display by New Boys who stood up well to the long ball game of the away team!

Playing down the hill in the first half Cornish put together some neat football and deservedly took a 1-0 lead into the interval after a great effort from fullback Shaun Rundle!

The Second period was shaded by Buryan but was'nt a very pretty half of football and was only really lit up by a great strike from winger Tony Oliver to make the game safe for the home side!

Referee turned up 5 minutes before kick off and played a 57 and a half minute 2nd half - needless to say he did'nt have the best of matches

These are my own views and not those of the Club ;)

Well done to the Titans, they wanted the game more than us and deserved to win. Hope you go on to do well in this cup, the better side won today.

Apologies to number10 for being kicked whilst on the ground by one of our players.

thanks to redruth for a really good game, goal scored in last 5 minutes and to tell the truth it was only going to take one goal from either side, well done to darren and the redruth guys, it was a tight game played in good spirit, shame ref ruined it with a sending off in last 2 minutes

good luck in the next round

proud of all the portreath boys held your own for the full game!!!!

Jolly's Shield 1st round

Wendron 5ths 2 .v. Trevenson Res 1

A well battled game on a heavy pitch which didn't help either team get their game going. Wendron went in at the break 1 up - the ball falling kindly for the striker after rebounding off the crossbar, apart from that it was pretty even with both sides dealing with a handful of half chances. We equalised in the 2nd half, a bit of a scramble and Scott Gunn getting the final touch to score ( I think! ). 2nd half was much more of a 'cup tie' with some cracking tackles going in and, with the game opening up a bit, some testing through balls for both defences to deal with. We ( Trevenson ) were finally undone with about 20mins to play, there striker finding some space to knock the ball past Nathan Hick in goal. That wasn't the end of it though with approx. 5mins to go we had the ball in the net but it was ruled out for a foul on the 'keeper.

A very tiring game but all the best to Wendron for the next round.

Well done to Gulval today!

They are a very sporting team and deserved thier win against us today. Have to say that Jowan's goal was a peach! Once again well done to the lads down there, looks like they may have a turn of fortunes, and will cause other teams problem this season!

Storm Res. 2 Gulval Res. 5 AET (Jollys Shield)

From Gulval's perspective, brilliant performance and a great game to be involved in. Storm are making noises that they were stretched, not many players available, and had to go down to 10 in the second period of extra time blah blah blah. Where is my hanky?

I believe that Storm Res. are the best team we have played this season in the league. They have completed the double over us, and deservedly so. Not today though. For some reason, Gulval were resilient, and fought back from a goal down twice.

The result is about as fair as it could be. We were easily the best team, and deserved a margin of 3 goals or more. The Storm keeper, although about 6 foot 10, was not brilliant, but somehow had a great game. If it wasn't for him, Gulval would have won in normal time time.

Good luck to Storm in the league, and good luck to us in the cup!

A GOOD GAME THAT WAS NEARLY SPOILT BY A VERY POOR REF.

threemilestone letting a 3-1 lead slip away

but gwinear played well 2nd half they were obvisly very determined to win.

they scored sum good goals. Two of them freekicks on the edge if the area 1 of them i should of saved but the rest of the goals i couldnt do much about .

the score is not a true reflction of the chacewater game---- the boys from mouse fnished poorly and the chacewater goalie played very well

mouse could of had 3 in the first 15 mins of the 2nd half if they had placed the shots.

good game chacewaters captain----- solid----if not frustrating for you

Heamoor 3 Newlyn NA 3 FT

Heamoor 3 Newlyn NA 5 Extra time

Great game with end to end action, Heamoor going 3-0 up in the first 60 minutes, though after that Newlyn piled on the pressure on and pulled it back to 3 - 3 just before the final whistle taking us into extra time, Extra time was dominated by Newlyn and they deserved to get the win in the end, though another improved performance by Heamoor, were getting better every week

well done to newlyn and good look to them for the rest of the competition

MOM: TRUAN OSBORNE - Had a cracking game with a brilliant solo effort :clapper:

Yea like Bundi said, a very good game today! Obviously I'm going to say we should have won it, I had 2 chances first half, one very well saved by the Redruth keeper, and the other a lob which just went to the left of the post! 2nd half, we had quite a few but never really tested the keeper, as was the same to Redruth!

The 2 midfield guys for Redruth, Phil? and Ryan, Very well done today! I'd deffo say that you're the best 2 in your side. Awesome passing and awareness so well done!

A Very big unlucky to our guys tho. We knew Redruth were going to be no push-overs! We held our own very well and should be proud of our performance.

Was a great shame about the somewhat diabolical referee today! Im never one to criticise refs as people well know, But today mate, You were awful!

Also a good result for our 1st team drawing 0-0 with Culdrose. Obviously 3 points are better than one, But still a point at the end of the day!

Good luck to Redruth for the rest of your campaign.

Oh Fergie, You can get out of my pocket now son!!

Mining 2

Mount Ambrose 1 - 7 Camborne School of Mines

Well played School of mines deserved the win. We gave some good oportunities on goal in the first half, getting some runs together. One coming from myself running past the defence but couldn't get a goal after the goalie spilt the save. First goal coming from a Corner in the second half but no games in nearly 2 months began to prove and it soon became damage limitation.

Well done mines

great result for the titans today, its been a long time coming. :c:

as you say wellsey our players wanted it much more than you today and really deserved the win. shame we could not share a drink after the game.

our number 10 was graham jewell and i have never seen him so incensed as today when he was stood on while being on the ground.to make matters worse the same player went crying to the ref at halftime about a tackle on him <_< . thanks for the apology

i was proud of our players today because they played good football despite the bully boy tactics of some of your players, that said its done and dusted game over on to next week.

good luck for the rest of the season from all at titans :D

A disappointing result :( especially as we lead 2 - 0 then 3 - 1 however I have no complaints we just did not play at all well second half, and gwinear deserved their win. As geachy said they finished well but our display was woefull infact it was nearly as bad as the refs performance, but not quite. We had several changes today which can unsettle a side but to be honest the first 30 mins of the game it looked as though we were going to take the points but the homeside came back strongly. The team did not adjust to the small pitch and did not play to their strengths, however, it is a learning curve as we are rebuilding this season and having a look at some of the reserve players. Hopefully we can come back strong.

Well done to Gwinear and if you continue to play in that vein I am sure you will stay up.

HEAMOOR 3 NEWLYN 5 after extra-time

Another great battling perfomance from the ever improving Heamoor,It was a great to play in with both teams playing in great spirit,And the ref doing the best he could with a difficult pitch,

Heamoors improvement is a credit to Dave Lynch and the players for battling on in a season and club that looked finished at christmas

Good luck to Newlyn for the rest of the season and bring on Madron next week!!!

Troon 2 - 0 Newlyn (HT 0-0)

Newlyn made four changes from last weeks side win over Titans, with injuries and absentees disrupting the backbone of the team..

Titans started the better, keeping most of the ball but failing to really get anything on target. Newlyn were happy with their first half performance and felt a shock win might have been on the cards against high-flying Troon.

Minutes after the break, Troon opened the scoring with a simple goal that stunned Newlyn and forced them into playing a more attacking formation. Several chances fell for either side, Newlyn hitting the bar, and Troon could have easily extended their league if not for stand-in keeper Paul Whiteman making a string of fine saves.

In the dying minutes, Troon scored their second, direct from a corner, and deserved their win, although they will probably feel like they under performed. Newlyns usual resiliant defence limited Troon to just the two goals, and left with their heads high and spirits up.

Good game from the ref, and to the Troon lino...

We wish Troon all the best in the Cup and in their push for promotion.

Fantastic game with both teams giving everything. For the first hour only one team looked like winning and that was Heamoor. Play like that in the league and I'm sure you'll be climbing the table soon. Not sure many of us could see a way back when still three down with 20 mins to go. But once we got the first goal more looked sure to follow and we just had enough time to complete the comeback in the 90 mins.

Thanks again to all the Heamoor players for a great game played in a great spirit. See you in a couple of weeks in the league.

illogan 2 v sennen 1

sennen failed to gain any points, despite leading 1-0 at half time

dissapointing outcome yet again...credit to illogan despite having a player sent off

this only seemed to strengthen their resolve,a long throw into the box not cleared..1-1

and a speculative shot, off the crossbar, fell to one illogan player in the box,who was not picked up.

smashed the ball into the net..we had enough chances, but could not find that second goal...

good goal from steve jones..not enough to lift sennen on to a win..3 defeats in a row now...

so a slump in league position is now inevitable...well done to illogan..

Why should anything be going on at Storm?.. Over the last 2 months Gulval Reserves have beaten everybody above them, except West Cornwall. We then went and lost to a Wendron team that we comfortably beat 4-0 away and also lost a couple of weeks later by a scoreline of 2-0 to a St Buryan team that we beat 9-1 just a month before.

Halsetown 4-1 St.Just (HT 3-0)

A better perfomance by the St.Just side who were always in this game, and infact could of been 2-0 up before Halsetowns first goal, with Steffan Smith missing a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, then hitting the crossbar from a freekick.

Halsetown going in 3-0 (the third goal was a beauty!!) wasnt a fair reflection on the first half, but Halsetown took their chances well, and St.Just didn't.

Second half St.Just battled well up the slope, and came back to 3-1 with a 30 yard shot from old timer Kevin Glenville. There was also another strong performance by 16 year old Jack Willis at centre half.

Halsetown hit the bar twice in the 2nd half, and finally scored with 5 minutes to go, when 45 year old keeper Terry Sturgeon (who over 30 years is slowly dropping back through the side) misjudged a long range shot which then found the corner, but had a good game besides this moment.

In the end, Halsetown were too strong and were always going to be the winning side.

With Gwinear winning, 2nd division football is beckoning for the St.Just youngsters, but with Steffan Smith and Scott Meagor now breaking through to the combination team (who are now all st.just local lads), the youth policy of the reserves is now shining through. It might be a good thing to play in a lower division to gain some confidence.

Also, we would like to thank Halsetown for putting on a cracking after match meal in their pub!!!!!

Why is either Gulval win V Storm strange?

We are not a bad club are we? We have been around a while and have won a couple of titles you know. Like Coopsie said the Reserves have beaten most of the top sides in the division this season.

As for the first team the last 11 games won 10 lost 1 for 55 against 15......where is the surprise?

Wendron Utd V 2 Trevenson 1

I would like to thank Trevenson for a hard fought game on a very uncharacteristically calm day at wendron. The tale of the tape(shots on goal v shots on target), Dan Henderson you know what that's all about!, would show that wendron should have won this game more convincingly than the two one score line shows. Wendron out played trevenson for the vast majority of the game and if it wasn't for some poor finishing and very good saves by the trevenson keeper(few close offside calls too) it could have been 7 or 8 to wendron.

With regards to the late disallowed goal, it was ruled out due to an offside as far as i can gather from the Ref.

Wendron goals: Dan Henderson Got both (Again)

Wendron MOM: Lee Coulton :clapper:

Trevenson MOM: Their Keeper (not just because i was a goalie either, he made some great saves to keep trevenson in the game). :clapper:

One problem with reading text is mis-interpretation. Storm have been losing a few games regulary, and Robartes have been winning, Including the win against Troon, Who a few weeks earlier beat Spice by an even bigger margin.

Funny ol' game is football! That certainly didn't mean I was taking anything away from Gulval! I'm certainly not one to criticise teams!!!
