Heard a lot about yesterdays game and some more of his decisions so just curious as to what the real Liverpool fans think? Time to go? Give him a break? How long can he keep dining out on the 3-3 draw 5yrs ago?

Not a dig by a United fan, am genuinely interested in folks views!

Benitez, an excellent manager and a friend of the Revolution, should stay. He has not got a purple nose. The city has not been the same since the sad loss of Derek Hatton from public life. The only pity is that Chelsea are fixtured there too early for the clubs to reach a sensible decision on which of them should roll over deliberately to spite Purple Nose.

He's made a few baffling decisions, but then, hasn't every other manager, its just that every decision he makes that doesn't work out, is getting jumped on.

He played a side against Newcastle that no Liverpool fan would have picked, yet we gave the best performance of the season and should have scored 10!

One thing I do like about him, is that no player is bigger than him or the club, thats whats made Fergie so successful in my opinion.

The vast majority of fans are behind him, everyone gets frustrated at times, but it seems at the moment that Liverpool are easy to play against.

Get the Boardroom sorted out, thats the main gripe of all Liverpool fans. And give Rafa a new contract

Being a long term Chelsea supporter I had to endure the Liverpool dominance of the 80's as they were just awsome. They lost their way for a decade or so and tried several different styles of manager and I have to say that Benitez is clearly the best manager they have had since their dominance of the 80's.

So for this reason I think they should be sticking by him. But, there does seem to be a missing link somewhere in the mangement/coaching set up when it comes to the Premier League which leads me to believe that although Benitez and his staff have proved they are European Cup specialists, they lack a certain ingredient when it comes to winning Premier League games week in week out from Aug-May.

As much as it pains me to say this, you have to give huge credit to Sir Alex who gets the balance between Cup football and the league spot on most the time and this usually comes with player rotation and system selection for different styles of football and opposition. I see this as a Benitez weakness and could again cost him the Premiership crown, not to mention his recent outburst which although we all agree with him, was it really the right time for such an outburst or really in the interests of his players?

I dont think so and now they face a huge uphill task of chasing their big rivals from Manchester and really need 3 home points on Sunday and 3 home points for their neighbours on Saturday.

Liverpool are in a better position this year than previous years so it obviously shows we are progressing.

I hate let me reiterate HATE giving United credit but they grind out the 1-0's, whereas we drew with Stoke Cristiano got old matey sent off and they scrape a win in the 84th minute. Last minute winners against Bolton and Sunderland. Just about beat Boro, they know how to win. Those games could easily have been draws.

Chelsea will be beaten on Sunday!!

The game is due to take place SUNDAY 1ST FEB with a 4pm kick off.

Have been a follower of Liverpool FC for over 40 years, and been going up to watch them for the last 15 years. Seen some cracking games i.e. Liverpool v Newcastle 4-3 victories both games, Cheslea/Juventus european cup night average games and more recently some awfull games. Loosing to Coventry at Anfield 2-1, one of the worse games ever I have seen at Anfield.

Liverpool Fans have been waiting a long time to win the Premiership and this year is the best opportunity with have had to win it. Problem, on the pitch, you do not win the league by drawing your games especially at Home. Stoke City, Wigan, West Ham, West Brom, Everton, Hull City, Portsmouth. These are the Clubs you have to beat. We should be at least 7 points minimum clear at the top.

The Manc's go away for a little jaunt to Japan, miss a couple of games. Now they are top of the League with a game in hand.

In my opinion, the turning point was the game against Newcastle away. Since then the manager has not played the same team. The Manc's tinker with the team and still win. At the moment we do not have the capabilties to defeat teams, running out of ideas.

How can you justify leaving £50m worth of talen on the bench against Stoke. Does he want to win the League ? I do not think so.

Chelsea is a massive game on SUNDAY. We need to win and win it well. Send a message out to the top 6 we are back in business. Also play our best team who wants to play and win for Liverpool FC.

On the subject of Robbie Keane. 5 goals in 3 games, drops him and hardly played since. The mind boggles.

I have a couple of predictions for you all to ponder on. If Liverpool FC do not win the league this season, you can forget it for at least another 5 years. Aston Villa or Everton will qualify for the Champions League and one of the top 4 with the exception of the Manc's will not be in Europe next season.

I do hope I am wrong because I want to see Liverpool FC win that league and to stop the Manc's equalling our record of League Titles.

The toffeemen are in the top six without a recognised striker.

Have a great weekend all you kopites.

it bugs me when at home he plays a back four and two defensive midfielders against teams with 1 upfront i like rafa but to cautious for me. and if that is the formation he likes why spend 20 million on keane when the only place he can play is where gerrard and torres plays ,drop kite and put gerrard on the right and give keane a run of games. p.s dossena is the worst left back in the prem.

Although i do not disagree with what you have said and it is a good post especially as you have supported the pool for 40 years but i find that a little disrespectfull saying that about teams you may think are just average (Stoke City, Wigan, West Ham, West Brom, Everton, Hull City, Portsmouth) I say this because you have not done your homework and mentioned all the teams you have sliped up against this season ?

To win the premiership you have to be good all season and beat just about everyone so i cannot understand why there are not more teams in your post that Liverpool should have beaten, You lost to Spurs away when they were going through a bad patch (And still are :D ) You drew with Fulham at home so they should be on that list you also drew with Arsenal away and to win the league you must beat the usual suspects

I like Rafa as a manager and he has done well and won trophies just not the one all Liverpool fans crave and now it looks like Manure could go on and become the most successful league side in history unless Liverpool can stop that from happening, I would love to see them win it but i just cannot see it this season

Managers need time and he has had a few years to sort things out but imho i would stick with him and give him a little while longer

My teams next 2 games are Arsenal and Manure so lets hope we can do you boys a favour there (I wish) :D

Heard a lot about yesterdays game and some more of his decisions so just curious as to what the real Liverpool fans think?

Define the word REAL FANS i would be interested in what you or others call REAL FANS and how you would recognise a REAL FAN ?

But then you have to ask, who will replace him. Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish ?

Kevin Keegan or Kenny Dalglish ?

Keegan is definitely not the man you need there and Dalglish may be a hero but in this day and age he is not the man you need either (Although i have no idea who could do it)

Try Fergie he is a good manager :D:D:D:D

Seriously lads before you all kick off that was a joke and i dont support Manure either :o

The list iof cockup is endless. No disrepect to those teams Liverpool FC should have defeated, I agree you have to win as many games as possible to win the league. They deserve to be in the Premier as much as the next team. We have got to be one step ahead of the opposition. But teams are now coming to Anfield to defend in numbers and we are not good enough to break them down.

I thought the Arsenal result was an excellent one. One of Liverpool's problem over the years, when the leading pack slip up we could not capitalise on it and either draw or loose.

Rafa is a good manager, but with the money he has spent surely we should be at least aiming for top 2 by now. Like a fellow supporter pointed out to me recently, even if Liverpool win the league, do we have the ability to retain it the following season ? No is the answer.

I sometimes cringe when I see what team he is about to put out and like any other supporter know we are not going to get the right result.

Yes we have Chelsea on Sunday and the Manc's. To stand any chance of winning the league 6 points is the maximum required. I will be there Sunday lets hope its a cracking game and 3 valuable points to the reds

Just like the previous posting, who is around to replace him. Liverpool need someone with passion. Martin O'Neill is my choice but why leave Villa when he will be in the Champions League next season

Rafa's done a good job, but the team cannot seem to take that next step. Some of the other posters have said it: he's gone all cautious and the team chokes on leads and can't make enough chances to get through. Having Torres out so much cannot have helped, but Keane is looking like a white elephant, and some of the others are not really going to be pushing the best (Dossena, Degen, Lucas).

Let's see how this season turns out; he may get the side to push ManUre all the way and still win a trophy or two. As for the league, finishing second is a necessary springboard to finishing first in recent history, so next year -- barring some catastrophic injury to Stevie G, maybe -- would be the test year. Although let me point out that Gerrard, Carragher, etc. aren't getting any younger . . .

So I say we should keep him (it's those damn Americans who should go :c: ), but I'll confess that's partly through inertia; a new manager would have to start over. As for who that could be, Jose's name is often bandied about, although that prospect gives me the creeps. It would have to be somebody with huge cachet, probably.

Cockerkneeboy, by using the term real fan I meant Liverpool fans who care about the club. Just wanted to here what they thought, and sensible others like yourself. Didnt want the thread to turn into the usual "my Dadis tougher than your Dad debate" that so often happens.

Looks like the craziness is catching. Scolari having a "moment" yesterday claiming other teams get away with fouls at the Bridge, which they dont and claiming the other big 3 get more pens at home, which they dont. As a United fan im liking what Im seeing! (Probably go and lose to the Toffeemen now  )

Thats all i needed to know fella and i agree, The only reason i asked is because there are lots of (What i call) non REAL fans out there who have an opinion which is usualy tosh and say they have supported a team all of there lives even though most have never seen them play

I dont know to much about Liverpool as a club and have no desire to follow them but i had my say on how i see things from an outsiders point of view (And thats only my point of view by the way)

I support West Ham (If everyone did not know by now) and we never have the trouble of being in a position saying we should have won the league by now or have we got the right man to guide us to european glory so i guess i can sit and enjoy watching the top 4 (WoW that includes Villa now :D ) battle it out to the end

Nothing to do with this topic but i am happy that we (West Ham) have the right man now and are doing well, Big tests the next 2 league games and we (West Ham) could throw a few spanners into the title race if we take points from the Arse and Manure

gillo10, The way Manure are playing right now i cannot see you losing to Everton but West Ham awy next week could be tough

As a Man Utd fan I think that Rafa will be off in the summer. He started talking like Liverpool would be Premier League champions and his mind games obviously backfired and the only thing red hot at Liverpool should be the board. Rafas ranting may of cost them their first Premier League title.

As a Liverpool fan I do not believe that what Rafa said has had any real impact on his team. Looking back over the years, Liverpool have notoriously struggled against sides in the bottom half (mainly the bottom six) and have always had a tendency to drop points against those sides yet pick up points from the 'bigger' sides. Far too inconsistent for my liking.

Liverpool are making progress, obviously not quick enough for most of us! Maybe this season has given a little bit of false hope after a solid start, but to be honest I don't want to say too much as there is plenty of time for things to change... points will be dropped, that's a certainty.

The fact that United fans are talking about Liverpool as competition is an indicator that Rafa has done a great job at Anfield and it would be good to see Liverpool competing for the title come the end of the season. These things take time - stick with Rafa for the foreseeable.

How has Rafa done a great job, if he was that good we would not have blown the nine point lead we had over United, played our strongest team every week. Thats a sign of a good manager.

Yes good result Sunday but the club has to do this week in week out. Now with Keene gone, we could be in "Shit Street" if we loose Torres again. Lucas, Babel and Kyut are not going to score goals. Stevie G is our leading scorer and he plays in midfield.

The Manc's tinker with the team and still beat opponents. Liverpool tinker, we do not have a clue.

Next game, Portsmouth. Watch us struggle.

Like I said in my earlier postings watch out for Villa and the Toffeemen to break the top 4 franchise and Liverpool could still miss out.

Hope I am wrong
