I thought that Premiership media contracts required managers to attend some press events. But not Sir Alcy Purplenose, of course, who wants the Sun banned from his press conferences. Interesting to see him in such sympathy with Liverpool supporters, who have never forgiven the appalling allegation that they picked the pockets of the dead at Hillsborough.

I expect the F.A.will wring its hands and do nothing. Sir Alcy is an exception to every rule as usual.

Why isn't he being consulted for his views on how to ride out the recession ? Surely a seat in the House of Lords can't be far away.
