Soccer Follower
Dave Sweet - Trispen Andy Parry still manager of Penryn Combination team? What would Falmouth Town give to have a side similar to that one again?
Mike Odgers
Also from my programme notes of the day-there was reference to the most celebrated player to wear the Red and Black of Penryn Athletic-World soccer legend the late George Best who graced Cornish soil for the first time in an exhibition match against Falmouth at Bickland Park in January 1983 before a gate of 2000. Kernick Road the current home was the seventh different home ground-can anyone reel off the previous six from when the club was formed 1n 1963? Guest Postie Pidge
Mike it was Beanie (Chris Symons) in his younger days! Kernick Road the current home was the seventh different home ground-can anyone reel off the previous six from when the club was formed 1n 1963? In the early days, Penryn played home games at Perranwell (travelling to games on the train). Also: Glasney The (sloping) Glebe Dowstall Farm (Mylor) Was Parkengue ever their main base? Mike Odgers
Being associated with Pengegon FC we played them at a very sloping ground near St.Gluvias Church (guessing 1967). and later(1975 ish) in a Junior Cup match near the Penryn rugby ground-was that part of Penryn School complex? Guest Postie Pidge
The Glebe is that sloping pitch! Penryn School fields were probably used as well. Parkengue is down the back of Kernick Industrial Estate
