womens county cup

I hear on the grapevine that Truro City Ladies ,despite winning 11-0 at Marazion , have been thrown out of the Competition for administration errors .

First time for many years the Cup will have two new teams in the final !!!

At least it gives all the others teams a great chance now .

So who will be the new favourites to lift this years Cup ??

1/4 finals 18th Jan 2009

a FALMOUTH TOWN V BUDE TOWN

b ROCHE /ST.BREWARD V MARAZION

c ST.AGNES V LAUNCESTON / CALLINGTON

d SALTASH V DOBWALLS

SALTASH V BUDE FINAL ???????????

Um - slow down - we have never even made it past a 1st round in the County Cup - let alone a 2nd round - now we are in a 1/4 final!

Match Report...........................

St Agnes 3 V Torpoint 0 (County Cup Round 2)

St Agnes were keen to get this fixture played this week having already been postponed last week but were not expecting the result against a good team from a higher league.

Grateful to Goonhavern AFC for allowing the fixture to be played there in atrocious weather conditions St Agnes defended well against the strong wind in the first half.

Goalkeeper Emma Kent making several saves as Torpoint tried to use the wind advantage - in particular a great flying save to tip a determined strike around the post.

St Agnes looked dangerous on the break creating several chances with the Torpoint keeper making a great save from a fine strike by Tracey Burley.

The half time score 0-0.

With the wind at their backs St Agnes took the game to Torpoint and the pressure was rewarded 4 minutes into the 2nd half when Tracy Burley struck hard and accurately from 30yards into the Torpoint goal.

St Agnes continued to pressure with Torpoint defending well - St Agnes were rewarded when the ball fell to Leanne Harvey in the box and she finished well.

St Agnes added a 3rd minutes from the final whistle after the ever dangerous Laura Rogers completed a fine wide run and crossed the ball into the box for Leanne Harvey to force a defensive error - the score 3-0 to St Agnes.

St Agnes welcomed Kim Singh who made a good debut in midfield and the St Agnes back four were solid throughout.

Both teams were without normal starting line ups but a good natured game and St Agnes wish Torpoint good luck for the rest of their season - St Agnes now progress to the quarter finals playing either Launceston or Callington at home in January.

I think it was a question of not registering a player or players correctly Iamthebest! It is fairly obvious that they would have won without them but it was apparently an administrative error.

Result - St Breward 4 - 1 Marizion good result for breward. Tamsin Keat opened the scoring. Not long after Marizion Replied. Then Kirsty hit the net for breward to gain the lead. The game was held up though due to a serious injury midway through the first half to one of the marizion players. But the gamed carried on with 10 minutes left to play of the first half. Then the teams quickly came back onto play the second half and Leah Pethick's long range shot found the goal but the game was far from killed off as marizion played some good football and looked dangerous going forward. But with 15 minutes to go Kim Morrrish hit in a goal mouth scramble to finish off the game.

a good result for St Breward Ladies. Everyone at the club hopes that the injured marizion player will be ok.
