cornishteddyboy
When writing reports for programmes, etc, it's good to write in a teams nickname as it makes it more friendly and less impersonal. Below are a list of the teams in the combo and the names that are known. If they are wrong give us a shout or help fill in the blanks. Falmouth Town - The Town Hayle - ??? Helston - ??? Holman SC - ??? Illogan - ??? Ludgvan - The Hurlers Newquay - The Peppermints Penryn - ??? Penzance - The Magpies Perranporth - The Pilchards Perranwell - ??? Porthleven - The Fishermen Portreath - The Gulls RNAS Culdrose - The Seamen St Agnes - The Aggies St Day - The Saints St Ives - The Saints St Just - The Tinners Wendron - The Rams? During the week I will also make a list of past teams that have been in the league to be filled in. CTB

Guest Sport Lover
Culdrose is a Navy base, hence the seaman (I think)

isaac rosenberg
The Rams and the Seamen are in reasonable propinquity. Just as well, methinks. Conversely, the Pilchards are wearing the trousers at Perranporth, as Speedy Gonzales found out to his cost !
cornishteddyboy
RAF St Mawgan used to be "The Airmen", hence RNAS Culdrose were called "The Seamen" (goodness don't miss out the "a" ) I can't believe it no one seems to know any of the nicknames. You lot play for these teams you should know their nicknames!!

Scooby
As both myself and HP have already posted before; As far as I am aware RNAS Culdrose have always been nicknamed the Airmen. This has been referred to in all paper clippings dating back to the 1960s that are currently held within the public relations department at the base! We are constantly referred to as the Airmen in todays papers and the nickname is used on our current website. As club secretary I cannot find a single referrence to the nickname the Seamen? as St Day's No 1 has pointed out we are Fleet Air Arm at a Naval Air Station! it would be like being called the Submariners? or Bootnecks?
