mullion 6-2 penryn

mullion were back to league action this week and hosted penryn at clifden parc!

with a great playing surface mullion started good against the wind, with new signing nicky medlin making his debut in the middle of the park!!

10 mins in and a good passing move for dan stidwell to lob the keeper with the outside of his boot put mullion 1-0 up,penryn never really had a chance to settle when the ball was in the back of the net 5 mins later,a good turn on the half way line by rob carey who then held the ball up and split the defence with an inch perfect through ball found nick slade running at the keeper to slot home the second,

mullion started to boss the game and play the ball around creating a few chances but but took their foot off the pedal and allowed penryn to get back into the game as they did at portreath last week,

on the 30 minute mark penryns winger pulled a bullet like shot out of the bag from 25yrds that went in the top left corner leaving keeper jason kitchen with no chance!!

CB ben stidwell was forced to come off due to a re-occuring ankle injury and will duke dropped back to cover his position and partner davey phillips for the remainder of the game!!

2nd half saw a much livelier game, mullion struggled to settle down for a while and penryn created a few good chances which theyll be kicking themselves for not taking, but they kept at it and finally got the equaliser!!

but this only brought the best out of mullion who looked like they wasnt goin to settle for any less that a win,a corner given that was questioned by the penryn team resulted in mullions third when chris ensinks delivery sailed straight in the top corner!!

15 mins to go and another defensive injury hit mullion, this time to harry spraggett, dan higgins was brought on in place at left back, but this didnt stop mullions flow and they went straight up the other end for nick slade to get his 4th goal in two games and mullions 4th of the day!!

penryn started to fall to peices when yet again, mullions pace was the difference!!a crossfeild ball from higgins gave stidwell time to set up an immaculate 30yrd pass which was met by chris ensink who

out paced the right back to unleash a thounderous header from six yards and claim his 2nd!!

mullion were in full flow and had time for one more when charlie cheetham pinged the ball long for stidwell to challenge the defender and head over the keeper to complete his brace!!

well done to all the lads,a good, clean, fast tempo game to watch!!

penryn unlucky with some of their chances but overall mullion coped with everything thrown at them!!

the ref was also in good form!!
