Darin Morse
Foxhole 1 Callington 3 Saturday 27th September 2008 Foxhole used this cup-tie for a spot of squad rotation and an impressive Callington outit ruthlessly took advantage. Lucassi and Norman provided a constant threat up front, the central defensive partnership of Jefferis and Pook were too good for the misfiring home attack, while McClements' fine crosses were a feature of the match. Norman opened the scoring on the quarter hour, firing into the corner after a quick turn, and he almost doubled his tally on 18 minutes only to be denied by an alert Ryan Holland. Six minutes later, and a mile offside, Norman's lob was handled outside the box by Holland. Billy Holland replaced his dismissed brother and was immediately beaten by Norman's fiercely struck free-kick. Rowe was cautioned for dissent before the break, joining Griffin (earlier booked for a foul on Pook), before Mason was also sent for an early bath following a poor challenge on debutant Maynard. Hopes of a comeback evaporated soon after the restart when Griffin twice failed to capitalise on inviting centres before McAdam intercepted Rowe's pass to make it 3-0 on 51. Although Capeling's header extended Drinka, the visitors always looked capable of extending their lead, and Norman thundered another free-kick against the post, while Lucassi and Gerry each went close. Referee Roberts, not enjoying the best of games, then sent off Griffin for foul language addressed to no-one in particular, after completely ignoring abuse by a Callington player aimed directly at the linesman before cautioning Murphy for clattering into Capeling. Hobbs' scrambled effort at the death was therefore scant consolation. Foxhole (4-4-2): Ryan Holland 6; Matt May 5 (sub. Billy Holland 7), Jason Warne 5, Mark Rowe 6 (sub. Phil Hobbs 6), Adam Holland 5; Andrew Butler 5, Liam Nicholls 5, Kyle Friendship 6, Ross Maynard 6 (sub. Adam Bromley 6); Steve Capeling 5, Richard Griffin 5. Callington (4-4-2): Tomas Drinka; Lee Murphy, John Wyatt (sub. Dan McAdam), Ashley Pook, Dan Jefferis; Dennis Mason, Ryan McClements, Dan Discombe (sub. Chris Gerry), Paul McAdam; Ryan Lucassi, Mike Norman. Referee: Mr Ian Roberts (Camborne) 6.
