Guest The Old Man
Anyone heard the latest from Saltmill? We played there yesterday and before the kick-off the referee informed me that the ball was not pumped up fully as this would make it bounce too much. Never, in 30 years of playing Senior football, have I heard anything so ridiculous!!! Anyone else experience this when playing there?
Guest Peppermint
This does really reduce what is a Senior League match to farcical proportions!
whuru
I played on QPR's and Lutons plastic pitches in the 80's and the Ref's used to do the same taking a little bit of pressure out of the ball so to aliveate excess bounce. Gary Micklewhite who played for QPR told us that it used to baffle the opposition because they would train all week on the pitch prior to a game with fully inflated balls and try and get used to it, and then when the game came it took them a while to realise that the ball wasn't bouncing so high and rangers were usually in front by then.....
