Penryn 1 Newquay 4

Recommended Posts

A great result and performance from a Newquay side that was short of 4 regulars and with 2 other departing the club, the squad was a little thin on the ground to say the least. However Newquay got off to the best possible start with probably the hardest free kick I have ever seen. From 25 yards Scott Palmer blasted the ball past a helpless Steve Raven. Newquay increased the lead when Luke Rigby converted a good move to put the visitors two up within 15 minutes. Sean Johnston pulled one back with a strong run down the right and his speculative cross drifted in at the far post. Palmer scored his second with a fine individual goal showing strength and clamness to fire between Raven's legs. Penryn had most of the possession in the second half but created only half chances and Ian Chatfield in goal saved well following an excellent individual run from Ashley Bradshaw. Young Josh Harris carried the ball fully 60 yards before he was adjudged to have been brought downin the box. Scott completed his hat trick with another thunderous penalty. The teams meet again in 3 weeks in the Throgmorton Cup. Good luck to Penryn for the rest of the season .
