St Cleer 5 Fowey 2

Recommended Posts

St Cleer did not impress in the first half and it was Fowey who opened the scoring on 18 minutes through Josh Frampton. St Cleer although playing below the standards expected drew level with in 3 minutes. Colin Wilson picked up the ball 20 yards out and smashed the ball in the net giving the Fowey keeper no chance. 15 minutes later it looked better for the home side as Wilson latched on to a great pass from skipper Lee Collins, beating the off side trap rounding the keeper to make it 2-1. This should of seen the home side in at the break with the lead, but a cross that was not cleared allowed Dave McHardy to level. Harsh words whistled in the home sides ears and to St Cleers credit they came out for the second half chomping at the bit and started to dominate possession. on 60 minutes David Bowman shot which the keeper let slip through his legs. Fowey soon got back in the game and a great goal line clearance by Mark Jeffery kept the lead intact. St Cleer began moving the ball with more control and patience and the reward came as Colin Wilson grabbed his hatrick (8 goals in 3 games) to make it 4 - 2. Fowey kept trying and still caused problems as they hit the upright on two occasions. The final goal came at the death as Jamie Coates riffled in a close range effort. This was a great game overall played on an excellent playing surface.

Squad - Jez Pomfret, Nick Trevarthan, Mark Jeffery, Ray Wall, David Bowman, Darran Harvey, Jamie Coates, Lee Collins, Ryan Thorogood, Colin Wilson, Dave Wade, Ed Bradshaw, Jon Niblett, Martin Jackson.
