Jimbo
This was a rather scrappy affair that was settled 5 minutes from time by a Jake Hartigan left foot strike across the goalie from 15 yards after an excellent through ball from Dominic Pullen. The game was a rather scrappy affair although Mousehole always looked dangerous on the break especially in the second half. Hartigan hit the post half way through the first half and Scott Palmer struck a left foot shot just wide. The game opened up more in the second half. Luke Rigby shot tamely at the keeper after a brilliant mazey dribble down the left. Hartigan then beat three defenders and the keeper twice on another brilliant individual run before squaring for Rigby who conspired to blast over from 2 yards out. Ian Chatfield returning to his former club and keeping a clean sheet, then made a terrific save from one of Mousehole's fast counter attacks. Shaun Middleton Newquay's inspirational skipper game on with 12 minutes to go and gave Newquay the bit of real quality the team had been missing all game. Within minutes of entering the game Middleton had a shot cleared off the line. Dave Rabone then had a header also cleared off the line. Just after Hartigan scored a swift Newquay counter attack saw young Josh Harris run 60 yards to meet Rabone's fine pass, he then breezed past the final defender before shooting just wide. Mousehole can think themselves a little hard done by not getting anything out of the game. Newquay on the other hand has gained a full 6 points from their first two games without giving a commanding performance in either game. However it's always better to win ugly than not win at all. baldy
A very fair-minded appraisement of the game, Jim. However if the skipper adding the missing class, why did he not start the game & why was he not brought on earlier? Personally I think you are wrong and that Nqy deserved the win even though it seemed unlikely. One piece of calm in front of goal sealed the win. The calm & cool is what is needed and shoot when the goal is in sight instead of trying to walk it in from 10 yds as Jake? did 10 mins before scoring after beating 3 or 4 men. Still a very satisfying 3 points esp after last season when we played very well and came away with nothing.

Guest Peppermint
Yes Paul - The Judge and his army will be out in force with their flags at Mount Wise when Newquay take on Wadebridge Town in the FA Vase tomorrow afternoon.
Grant
Baldy, Jim's post says nothing about Newquay deserving the 3 points and actually says that Mousehole were unlucky not to get anything out of the game. Why may the best players/captain sit on the bench? Maybe he is recovering from an injury, not up to match fitness yet?
