Darin Morse
Foxhole 1 Camelford 3 Saturday 16th August 2008 Nine-man Foxhole's performance matched the dreary nature of the weather after they were unable to capitalise on a bright opening and allowed the Camels to deservedly claim the points, indiscipline proving crucial. Butler and Hobbs might have scored early on, and it was against the run of play when the unmarked Menhinick slotted past Holland on 17. Backed by the gale, Bromley let fly from distance and Friendship saw an effort deflected over, but too often routine passes went astray and crosses were overhit, and neither keeper was over-extended. On 35, Boxhall was booked for a foul on Grose, whose reaction resulted in similar punishment; bizarrely, play was restarted with a drop ball, not the only time referee Davis was to fail to apply common-sense. Three minutes later, Rowe met Butler's near post corner to head the equaliser beyond Tickle off the bar, but that was as good as it got. The match sparked into life ten minutes after the restart. First Rowe was cautioned for dissent after the referee missed an obvious handball; within seconds, Boardman lunged at Bromley, but was nevertheless unlucky to receive a straight red for his first offence. Regrettably, Rowe had unnecessarily displayed his anger at the challenge and his second yellow was inevitable. Camelford adjusted better to ten-a-side and, following a scramble, Murt set up Balsdon to sidefoot home on 66. Although Tickle had to smartly gather from Friendship, the visitors were largely unruffled, comfortably dealing with the poor service for the isolated Nicholls. Twenty minutes from time, Grose was also ordered off, his tackle on Murt deemed worthy of another caution; moments later, Boxhall volleyed in Gusterson's corner. Despite no discernible formation, and with sub French cutting an unlikely figure upfront, the Foxes at last played some tidy football, albeit with little realistic hope of salvaging a point, particularly when Watson was summoned from the bench far too tardily and Hobbs' late header from only six yards flew over. Foxhole (4-3-3): Ryan Holland 6; David Grose 5, Jason Warne 6, Phil Hobbs 5, Jamie Bullock 6; Kyle Friendship 5 (sub. Matt May 5), Adam Holland 6, Adam Bromley 6; Liam Nicholls 6 (sub.
