A good start to the season and to Trevor Mewton's reign at Penlee Park with a well deserved home victory for the Magpies over a spirited Penryn side, who played their part in an entertaining game played in front of an excellent crowd.

penzance good win 4-0,although penryn not that impressive, good performances from stu and burty who were pick of the homeside and a good reward for showing loyalty.dissapointed with crowd though, with poor weather and no games of rugby + local swpl sides cancelled and such "quality" on display i would have expected league attendance record to go?

porthleven well represented but did,nt see anyone from hayle spotting the weak areas of penzance,or are they highly confident of winning on tues night????? :drink: :drink:

can anyone at the st austell game give any info on the game ??? i heard Millbrook were unlucky not to get a point and that the winner came in the last minute!!!!

Millbrook battled hard but didnt deserve a point. We (St Austell) missed a host of chances and should of been at least 5 0 up at half time but for some woeful finishing (I missed 2 sitters, Bods had 2 clear of the line & the keeper made 2 or 3 good saves) and yes the winner came in the last minute!

Very honest report, Dan.

Should have wrapped the game up in the first half.

'Town' also had an effort that was well over the goal-line but not given.

We are all looking forward to better times ahead.

St.Austell supporters have suffered for long enough

PS

What's happened re. 'zero tolerance' with regards to foul language. F&B was very much in evidence at Poltair.

yesterday. :SM_carton:

Its funny how all the people who say that st austell deserved to win are either st austell players or fans. I have spoke to people since saturday (who have no connection to either club) who say at 2-2 millbrook themselfs had chances to take the lead, strange how know-one has mentioned that.

Also a report in todays plymouth herald suggests that millbrook were more than a match for st austell and judging from dane bunneys comments its seems he and players are out to prove alot of people wrong!

First time I've seen Pz at the top of the league for years. 3 points on Tuesday away to Hayle, another 3 on Friday at home to Mousehole will see the Magpies looking down on everyone else for the rest of the season. :P

The Mousehole game might break the Div 1West attendance record.

CTB- Mr Mewton may take a disliking to your predictions for Penzance this season if they carry on like tonights!!! :yahoo:

Penzance looked dis-jointed against Hayle for large periods of the game: just like a team that has only played a few times together: it'll take time to knit the side together as TM will want it. Hopefully the fact that they have had a few competitive games already will put them in good stead against a fresh and, presumably, up for it Mousehole on Friday, our third game inside a week.

Hayle looked strong and well organised and I think will surprise a number of teams this season.
