blackie
Thanks guys a wonderful achievement for the club to be promoted as champions, especially as we were so far behind Porthlevan after christmas. Stuart and the players believed that we could win every game and eventually it was Port who dropped the vital points and we managed to get our noses in front at the right time. It really boiled down to the games against Portlevan where we hit top form in both games and took 4 points off them, which proved conclusive in the end. The shine was taken a little bit off the day when Aiden Dodd was sent off in 5 silly minutes when we were leading 7-0. Aiden was booked for pulling back an opponent(leading 7-0), it wasn't blatent and then booked again for a bit of lip to ref Steve after he had been hit in the face by a flayling arm and not given a free kick. Two other players were booked for a bit of handbags which none of us made anything of; there wasn't one bad tackle in the game. Both teams tryed to play good football in an excellent tempered game; Steve could have refereed the game from the grandstand. Although to the letter of the law you couldn't argue with the ref; a bit of simple common sense and nobody need have been booked or sent off; i can think of top refs like Jim mcaffery, Kevin Knowles, Gary Cornish etc who wouldn't have considered booking or sending off players yesterday in the atmosphere the game was played in. Why do some refs like issuing cards when there is no need for it especially when you cant even tackle these days. Please refs can we have some more common sense next season; and just try talking to the players a bit more and perhaps we can change this culture of respect, because it works both ways.
