Junior cup quarter finals 🏆

Falmouth United vs Biscovey

Falmouth and Biscovey both reached the semi finals last season so the aim for both side was to reach the semi finals. Advantage to Falmouth playing at home on their 4G pitch which a lot of teams struggle with the size of pitch.

Falmouth was and ready warming up setting a good pace while the visitors were turning up. The favourites of the tie Biscovey looked sharpe and ready in their warm up you could tell it was going to a difficult game for both sides.

Biscovey won the toss and chose to switch side meaning Falmouth kicked off the first half. Both teams started off pressing each other hard, neither team cracking staying composed controlling the ball but it looked like Falmouth was going to take the lead with the opportunities they where creating and they did 1-0 with the winger delivering from deep back post for our midfielder to volley home, not long after Falmouth made it 2-0 as the winger was played through and out come the keep kicking the player missing the ball PENALTY converted brilliantly. Full control by Falmouth however you could tell Biscovey where hunting for a goal before halftime and they got it from sloppy defending from Falmouth as they had a corner poorly cleared which was played back post with 5 Biscovey players unmarked and on the volley smashed back off the net 2-1 GAME ON! Half time.

Next goal would be vital for both teams

Second half started a lot slower from both side as one mistake could cost the game. Both teams creating several and the keepers pulling off brilliant saves (credit to both) Biscovey tempo started to slow down as you could see they where tiring due to the pitch and this allowed Falmouth to grab the 3rd of the match with the winger picking up the ball from Biscovey corner driving forward slotting in the other winger who was left one on one and curled it into the bottom corner 3-1. Game over? NO the player manager seemed to have shifted a few things around and it had paid off as they had won a free kick on the half way line delivered into the box and the huge CB towering over everyone winning the head cushioning it back of the net 3-2 GAME ON! Biscovey won a free kick edge of the box squeaky bum time. They had worked a brilliant set piece but Falmouth keeper denied the player from an incredible goal. That save just as important as scoring a goal could have been a different game if that had go in 3-3 but it remains 3-2. They had another corner from the freekick which Falmouth won hitting them on the counter attack as a beautiful ball was played through to the striker went on to smash it past the keeper comfortably 4-2 GAME OVER.

Falmouth 4 - Biscovey 2

Stand out player was the CB for Biscovey, apparently ex St Austell 1st team and you could see the ability within him just incredible. Good luck to Biscovey on the rest of their season

Thank you to the referee who controlled the game, allowed advantages to play and didn’t take no 💩 from no one.

I’d like to thank the spectators and their banter it truly made it a proper football game.

Attendance 84 round the pitch and roughly 20 at the top

I’m assuming you mean the Biscovey No.4 who indeed looked tidy, although I have to admit to not recognising him as a first team St Austell player.

Perhaps someone from Biscovey can tell us more please.

I was at this game and thought it was a cracking cup tie, played between two good teams and in the right spirit, helped by an excellent ref. I have even written about it on Facebook (search for Peter Harlow if you are interested). Whenbored's report here is a pretty good summation, though.

When I saying to the bench of Biscovey how good he was they had mentioned he had come from there St Austell
