100%cornish Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 It doesnt seem fair tha the FA Cup is just 1 game with no replays now it would of been good for smaller clubs to make some money but it all catered for the big clubs now Plymouth may draw against Brentford then they would of brought them back to Home Park but it seems its straight to ET then pens these days which i think its wrong . The big clubs dont take the fa cup seriously anymore playing mostly there reserve sides which i think Brentford will do . Still no one appointed as Plymouth manager yet i hope its not Wagner whats he done got Huddersfield relegated and as for Schumacher he left for more money at Stoke and now the fans want to welcome him back with open arms hope not . I would like to see Big Sam Allydyce get the job or David Moyes or a younger model in Gary O,Neil but i expect it will be some foreigner from god know where RAPPO 1
RAPPO Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 Agree with you regards fa cup Steve, always think the smaller clubs that get a draw deserve another big pay day whether home or away, but it’s all money orientated for the the top clubs these days and obviously the fixture congestion side of it comes into it now with just the one off game. Think Germany do this really well with their Pokal cup (fa cup), they do the draw but all the lower league clubs get home advantage against the big Bundesliga clubs right through the competition. It’s caused some good shocks and giant killings over the years and even last season a Bundesliga 2 team Kaiserslautern reached the final (final played in Berlin every season) and only lost 1-0 to Leverkusen who won the league as well, makes it a bit more interesting if you’re gonna play just one match I think? Obviously there’s the argument that a semi pro or lower league player wants a dream draw playing at a big stadium, like Salford at Man City or Accrington at Liverpool but I think Germany have got it right the way they run their fa cup. *Just my opinion, no refs or players criticised, all arguments null and void!! I’ve got a life 🤔😂👍⚽️ mattelot and Thecupfootballblogger 2
St Darren Posted January 8 Report Posted January 8 The fa cup was ruined years ago! It’s now spread out over so many days you’ve no idea what is going on. Unfortunately tv companies control football now! Third round sat used to be the best day of the football calendar. Football is ruined by money nowadays. A lower club is better off being drawn away to a decent premier league side In order to get the gate receipts. teams in the champions league can get more money for winning 2 games (possibly one) than what they can for winning the fa cup!! And this season the TV companies have introduced a new trend of showing no-hoper grass roots clubs playing away at Premier League big boys. Talk about lambs to the slaughter? You'll need a calculator to keep up with the score. Where is the entertainment factor in this? The old 3rd Round was always a joy. Now it's just a pantomime. Teams in other leagues do it as well as the league is more important.
