Newquay win 4-0 Vs Bridport Louis Price got the ball rolling when his cross from the touchline sailed over the Bridport goal and nestled in the goal this was after th goalie had made a brilliant save from a Cam Turner free kick and not many have stopped 1 of Cams blockbusters . The 1st half was nothing brilliant Bridport never looked like scoring and Newquay didnt look like they had got into 2nd gear but the wind played a big part in the game .

The 2ND half Newquay had found there feet and there sleek passing began to take Bridport apart , Louis was to get his 2nd goal Bridport gave the ball away and Louis took the ball and just kept going and ended up putting the ball in the net but when you got Louis Price charging towards you the smallish goalie must think Bloody Hell look at the size of him only going to be  winner .

3rd goal went to 1 of Newquays impressive subs Jacob Grange who looked class when he came on .

Goal number 4 and a Louis Price hat trick what a player he is .

Dont think Bridport would of scored if they where there all week but for the Newquay defence i was going to give Tom Moxham my MOM but i couldnt after Louis had got a Hat trick im sure he will have more yet hes a hell of a player .

It was strange being up there without Smokie Dog but hes not well and didnt want to go up it was too cold for him anyway .

Well done to Newquay i think they will play Liskeard in the final when they get there .

Onto the next came vs Callington next week and that will a tough one they have got some really good strikers .

Well done Newquay and hard luck on Bridport have a safe journey home

The officials had a difficult game to look at and the ref did make some iffy decisions that the Bridport manager wasnt happy with think he said like that was a awfully bad decision ref or words to that effect .

Ok  on to next weeks game

Mom for Newquay Louis Price yet again and for Bridport the goalie for his brilliant save from Cam Turners free kick

Well done Sticker absolutely brilliant from them the last couple of months. A massive turnaround in results. That man Chapman again scoring and a clean sheet. Well done to all involved. Ever since the Truro result they have been a different side what’s behind this I wonder? Looking forward to watching them next Saturday .

Penzance 2, Stoke Gabriel 0

Really enjoyed the game today. West v East and both started the afternoon in 5th place in their respective divisions!

Pitch played ok despite obviously being a little slippy in places.

Stoke Gabriel will probably rue the lack of making something of their right-wing crosses in the first half which was made worse for them not long before half-time when Penzance made the most of an inswinging corner. The ball came off a couple players en route to Silas Sullivan who touched home from the edge of the 6-yard box.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, the visitors came out and forced Penzance back, but credit to Tyler Tonkin and his back line, who proved stubborn and eventually the feeling came that Stoke wouldn’t score even if they stayed out there all day!

Just to rub it in, all but 6 minutes into second half added time, Sam Young picked out the corner of the opponents’ goal to score with cool precision and with it ensure the Magpies are in the draw for the next round.

The draw for the quarter final games is planned to be made on Saturday 14th December at the Teignmouth v Okehampton tie.

I’ll leave the more detailed match report for James Wright to post on the forum, who by the way, puts together a match programme well worth reading. 👍

Bodmin Town 2-1 Holsworthy

Due to logistics I found myself in a perfect situation to bail early from a family meal to take in a game at Priory Park.

A grey day across Cornwall was matched fittingly by the Holsworthy kits. It was the visitors who had the chances in the opening period and could've easily found themselves 3 goals to the good if not for some poor finishing. Their golden chance came around the half hour mark when a whipped corner was met unmatched from 6 yards but the header could only cannon off of the Bodmin bar. Holsworthy's stature was always going to cause problems and Bodmin knew they had to try to restrict set pieces in the second half should they get anything from the game.

The second half was much more even and open. Bodmin's minor adjustments at half time meant they could find joy wide and with Cox finding an extra gear he was causing problems from the left. Some neat skill saw him evade Holsworthy's right hand side and when his hip high cross drove across the box it seemed only the referee that missed the hand ball from the Holsworthy skipper. Waving away the protests from the hosts, he pointed for a corner. Fortunately, the assistant, didn't allow for the corner to be taken until the referee had spoken to him. After a brief discussion, it was a penalty for the hosts and dispatched by McGhee. 10 minutes later, Holsworthy were back in the game after a flurry of corners. With a delivery dropped right on to the keepers head, he was unable to force away and the ball was duly bundled home. For Bodmin, things went from bad to worse when skipper Baker recklessly flew in to win the ball back. There were no arguements from anyone when the red card was quickly shown. Bodmin knew they could still create with the introduction of Eccleston alongside Proybn and Cox, with 10 Bodmin knew they had to be more resourceful with the ball and they did extremely well to keep it whilst frustrating the visitors with a robust defensive shape (huge credit to both young fullbacks Brown and Robinson). Their discipline found reward when Cox evaded his man again only to be brought down in the box, no hesitation this time as the penalty was awarded and McGhee fired home his second of the game and a much needed winner for the hosts.

Thanks Dave! Belatedly, here is the report:

PENZANCE 2 STOKE GABRIEL & TORBAY POLICE 0
A goal right at the end of each half enabled Penzance to overcome a sturdy Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police team and progress to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
After Penlee Park had paid its respects with a minute's silence for sadly departed legendary centre-half Freddie Phillips, the visitors made the more forceful start. Elliott Simson had a shot charged down, then Ben Aldous was inches away from connecting with a Saul Vanes centre, whipped over from the right. Penzance keeper Mikey Flores then saved well from Cole Harford.
The Magpies first threatened on the half hour mark, Chris Wearing saving well from both Curtis Smith and Charlie Young before a second rebound fell to Sam Young whose pile driver pole-axed brave defender Morgan Harford.
With a full strength squad available, home boss Mark Vercesi was afforded the rare luxury of being able to shuffle his pack. He changed both full-backs, Chris Wormington returning from injury to replace Archie Reynolds on the right, and James Butler coming in on the left enabling Silas Sullivan to push forward to midfield. The Vice Captain, having plundered six goals primarily from left back, was always likely to profit. Bundling a flicked-on corner over the line just before half-time, Sullivan edged Penzance ahead in the tie and himself a shot clear of Smith and Charlie Young in the race for the Magpies golden boot.
Unbeaten since August, Stoke Gabriel hit back hard in the second half. "They were on top. They had some really good spells of putting us under pressure with good chances," conceded Vercesi. "But they were flash chances, as I would call them. Across the face of goal with no one there to finish them. They did not get through us, and I was pleased with that."
With the Devonians pushed up in search of the elusive equaliser, Penzance wrapped up the victory deep into stoppage time. With a low shot cushioned just inside Wearing's right-hand post, Sam Young notched his second Penzance goal, and first at Penlee Park, to send the large crowd into delirium and his side into the last eight.
Penzance: Mikey Flores, Chris Wormington, James Butler (Jacob Trudgeon 63), Sam Young, Liam Andrew, Tyler Tonkin (captain), Curtis Smith (Jude Tripconey 86), Charlie Willis (Ollie Butler 82), Lewis Caspall, Charlie Young, Silas Sullivan. Unused subs: Archie Reynolds, Kameron Collins
Stoke Gabriel: Chris Wearing (captain), Tom Dunlop, Morgan Harford, Jordan Thomas, Lee Hildreth, Jamie Down, Saul Vanes, Sam Bishop, Ben Aldous, Cole Harford, Elliott Simson. Subs: Jed Roberts, Joe Aldous, Callum Childress, Finn Herbert
Referee: Paul Kempen
Assistants: Barry Raiker, Paul Barker
Attendance: 168
