The Governor
This was a hard fought and entertaining match. Newquay started the better pressing the hosts back into their own third of the pitch. Dobwalls settled down and started to compete and had the better chances. The hosts were awarded a penalty but the spot kick was well saved. Dobwalls had the ball in the net but it was ruled out for offside. Halftime came with neither side able to break the deadlock. Newquay were happy to play route one football, playing long balls forward for the strikers to chase but we're thwarted by some resolute defending. Dobwalls again had the ball in the net after some great work by Josh Johnson whose effort was tapped in by Kaycee Ogwu who was in an offside position. The deadlock was broken when the hosts were awarded a free kick out wide on the left. Charlie Castlehouse drove the ball across the edge of the 6 yard box and into the far corner of the net. There may have been a touch from a defender? Newquay threw everything at the dobwalls defence who stood firm to take all three points and took away the visitors unbeaten status. Every member of the home side gave their all but for me Josh Johnson who ran tirelessly for the whole ninety minutes was my player of the match.
