St Day 2 -2 Wendron

After not picking up any points Saints v Sticker Tuesday evening which they were hard done by on chances alone aside of an outstanding display from the Sticker keeper .
And also a resilient Sticker side who failed to stop battling to the end , today was going to be a real tough home game  against high flying Wendron.

To be fair to the Saints they came out flying & had quite a few good opportunities to take the lead however the Wendron back line through bodies everywhere & the keeper made a couple of decent saves .
However around the 35 th minute maybe slightly different timing wise Kyle Marks delivered a quality free kick into the 6 yd box where Wade Brown came in from the back post to nod home .

Wade maybe 38 but bloody hell he’s fit as a fiddle & battled like mad up top for 75 mins today its definitely what the Saints have been missing .

Ht 1-0

Second half & just like the away fixture but in the reverse order Wendron seemed to tear Saints apart for 15 mins then a lul in play where we could of gone for a  ️ then with about 25 mins left Wendron punished the Saints with two crosses from the lines Ryan Reeve at the back post for the first I don’t know who scored there second but defo two goals that made the Saints who’d played pretty decent for the last 165 mins of football in two games looking at no points again .

No biased here but Kyle Marks with 5 to play beat  the left back to shoot from outside the area on the right hand side & cut across goal to beat the Wendron keeper comfortably.

2-2 in the end a fair result & for Wendron points dropped for there title hopes even this early & although a good display from the Saints they have to learn quickly that even though some of the best sides have left this league to ply there trade in the Western league the ones that are left are fit & know how to see games out .
Saints played well & deserved a draw & will learn & are pretty much in my opinion where they should be currently in the league but what’s nice to see is they are definitely a side you don’t want to face as they can punish you but still lots for this team to learn.

Liskeard 2 Callington 0  att,, 208

First of all the pitch looked fantastic,

A pretty even game, Callington battled and defended well, and deserved more from this, two of the players Liskeard brought in this week, scored, Richards cool as a cucumber, took his goal well, and then really didn't do much from then on,  gilburt superb strike sealed it in a second half were Callington were getting back into it, these two players won the game, and that's why they been brought in I guess, get what you pay for lol,

I have watched a fair few swpl west games and from what I can see is that the top 8 will beat the bottom 8, who finishes top 2, depends on how well you do against your fellow top 8 opponents, which makes the league a bit predictable and boring, except when top 6 or 8 play each other, ie Dobwalls today

Newquay will be like a wounded animal when they come up against Truro Reserves but then again its a midweek game and you dont want to be playing Truro or Liskeard in midweek so i wonder how many 1st teamers Truro will have in there reserve side but then again Sticker beat them when they had 7 in there team .

So come on Newquay get back to winning ways Hope to be at the Bridger on Saturday depends if i have my new knee on Thursday at Hayle Hospital .

Have a good week everyone

If I had a quid for everytime I've read "You don't wanna be playing Liskeard midweek".. I'd be able to afford the Refreshments Farce at Truro City.

Very few is the likely answer as is mostly the case with TCFC Res. Going well in the NLS, so unlikely to risk any regular fit first teamer in a SWPL game. The league table should tell you this too. Its a very yoiung side. Hope the knee op goes well!

Thankyou Both side of the Tamar  be glad to get my knee done but dont want to miss to much footy .

It didnt stop Truro reserves having 7 first teamers in there team when they played Sticker and still lost 1-0 I bet they play severel 1st team players and ex G player Jamie Lowry .

Newquay got to win this really because now Liskeard sit at the top they will take some shifting

Possibility of seeing Billy Palfrey and Conor Riley-Lowe in action. Pretty sure they're both suspended for Saturdays trip to Slough.

Maybe, but the idea that TCFC routinely fill their SWPL side with those with first team experience isn't true broadly. The gulf between SWPL & NLS means doing so generally serves no real purppose.
