Footballlover442
Buckland were very poor today! Hopeless going forward they ran out of ideas very quickly and blazey wanted it more
David Bray
Pulsating game at Poltair, hardly any of the 147 in attendance left early. St. Austell two up with 15 to go, Brislington converted a penalty , they then had a player sent off for an incident involving the St.Austell keeper who needed lengthy treatment. But St.Austell saw out the 10 mins added time. Sadly a couple of Brislington players reacted badly to loosing as the two sets of players left the field of play. All in all great entertainment on a glorious Autumn afternoon. Well played St.Austell they are getting accustomed to life in the Western League. Philheybrookbay
Bridgwater 1 Saltash United 2 Goals from Kieran O'Melia in each half, the first goal after 22 seconds (and it was nearly after 14 secs had Payne slotted in- Kieran got the rebound) saw us home. Bridgwater Were physical but lost their heads towards the end- their Chairman got himself a nice yellow as did their manager. Rikki started from the outset and bboy did he make the difference but for outstanding games for young Freddy Tolcher and Jack Kelsey were everywhere. Paul
St Blazey 1v0 Buckland Athletic. Att.125 Reg Hambly stood in the dugout today to over see the match while four reserve team players were involved, two starting. Local lad, Ben Rowe started again at centre back as his motm performance at Brixham in mid week made him an obvious choice. Tom Hensmann who has played so well for the reserves and the under 18s got the nod to start on the left of midfield. George Newton scored with a great Strike in the first half and gave St Blazey the belief they could get a result. Buckland looked sluggish and St Blazey battled for every ball and never gave them an inch. St Blazey almost made it two when Preston off the bench won the ball back and crossed to find Gilbert who's header just cleared the bar. Delight as the final whistle went and a big result in the context of the season. All to play for at the bottom now. Only negative is ourselves and St Austell both home again on the same day. Does absolutely nothing for both clubs. St Blazey v Paulton Rovers next Saturday. Railwayman in Exile and Thecupfootballblogger 1

David Harper
Visited St Blazey today on a lovely afternoon. The green and blacks went into today with no manager and some players leaving. Fortunately, Reg Hambly stepped in to oversee the management duty’s on a lovely day at Blaze Park. The game started with a cagey affair but Buckland had more of the ball and play. However mid way through the second half a midfielder played George Newton in who took the ball on and rifled it past the Buckland keeper (today you wouldn’t know the keeper played a higher level). The rest of the half was evenly competed and ended 1-0 to Reg’s green and blacks. After the severe hairdryer treatment from manager Hart, the Buckland players came out with a point to prove in the second half and put together some nice passages of play but never really threatened the Blazey goal. Some excellent work rate from the Blazey midfield and defenders keeping them at bay. Late on second teamer Preston robbed the full back near the corner flag and crossed a lovely ball towards Jayden Gilbert who narrowly missed to make the score 2-0. Overall a satisfying game for Blazey who with 4 second team players in attendance should feel very proud of their performance. Buckland who had majority of the play couldn’t find the killer pass. MOTM Ben Rowe - St Blazey. Attendance: roughly 180. Paul

Great movement and clever forward play from Rikki Shepherd all afternoon. Thought the Ashes forwards all looked lively and several chances created. Good team performance all round. Bridgy lost their discipline. They created a few chances of their own and they looked certain to score late on to level. Felt like death throughout the game, but helpful that there was lots to like from the Ashes on Saturday. Only 171 there - poor by Bridgwater standards!
