Darin Morse
Saturday 5th October 2024 Foxhole 3 (Barrett 39, 58, Smith-Brokenshire 78) Millbrook 1 (Stephens 61) Brilliant Foxhole registered their third successive league victory against an excellent young side at windswept Goverseth. They were certainly made to work hard for the points, Millbrook possessing in Stone a terrific keeper behind a solid defence in which Iocaban stood out, while Babb and Small and then latterly Stacey were real livewires up front. Stone made good saves from both Kilbey and Rowe during a first period in which the visitors did not sufficiently capitalise on the significant wind at their backs, the Foxes digging deep to allow only fleeting sight of their goal. Of many assured performances Kerrigan's was surely the pick to ensure the midfield battle was won and he was ably supported by, among others, Barrett, who capped his great display with two headers from inswinging Bidgood corners either side of the break. Even at two down Millbrook were far from beaten and Stephens headed home from close range after Babb had driven past Damerell. However any threat of an equaliser was snuffed out both by calm heads under pressure and a strong bench which included impressive debutant Hill. Any nerves were settled when Smith-Brokenshire's dead-ball flew directly under the bar, meaning that incredibly all of Foxhole's last five goals have come from corners. Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Luke Damerell, Zach Smith-Brokenshire, Jake Couch, Keiran Barrett; Aaron Beresford, Aidan Dingle, Levi Kerrigan; Chris Kilbey, Courtney Rowe, Cam Bidgood. Subs: Tom Rowland, Jowan Dingle, Lee Reed-Bennett, Winton Hill, Lee Rickard. Millbrook: Tyler Stone; Cam Stephens, Ben Endean, Luke Moran, Adrian Iocaban, Kobi Lau, Charlie Brown, Will Burns, Josh Payn, Oliver Small, Josh Babb. Subs: Adam Jones, Jacob Marshall, Malakai Phillips, Harry Stacey, McKenzie Triggs. Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Millbrook. Many thanks to Tim Reeks and the visiting lino. Boxy
St Newlyn East 1st 4-3 Looe Town 1st A great game that could have gone either way. Looe went 3-1 down with in the first 16 minutes and in previous seasons that might well have opened the floodgates. Today though, the lads despite going behind tried to get their game to flow and the last 20 minutes of the first half showed St Newlyn East what there about this year. Some fantastic play by Looe to bring the game back to 3-3 by half time. Second half again both teams played well and for those watching it was exciting to watch. Both teams had chances and St Newlyn took the lead again on the 82nd minute. Looe in the last minutes has a corner whipped in which was headed clear by the defending player in the inside right post. The ball was played back in and with a scramble. The ball was nearly put in to the next, but their keeper somehow got to it. I’m sure if you want more detail then you can watch the match back on their club page. I believe they stream the games after as it was videoed. A great game played by two teams who want to win. On and off the pitch there was good spirit. We look forward to the home game later in the season. Goals for Looe Philippos Kombostiotis (J. Taylor assist) 15’ Reece Willmott (P. Kombostiotis assist) 28’ Josh Doney (P. Kombostiotis assist) 40’
St Newlyn East AFC
Good to see you and your team again Paul. Have put a link to the match highlights below. Good to see Ross London hitting the net for us (a first half 9 minute hat trick and a 90th minute winner) after his miss of the season went viral. Martin Hunn
Saltash 2 St Dominic 0 After last weeks crazy draw against St Austell, we travelled to Kimberly on Saturday to face league leaders Saltash. Short on numbers and with a couple of key players missing, we were 2-0 down within the first 15 minutes due to two mistakes at the back, with former player Pete Styring scoring both. After that we grew into the game, having our fair share of the ball and moving it around really well. After about 40 minutes the home sides goalkeeper was sent off. The second half began similar to how the first half ended, we were still having lots of the ball but Saltash were defending very deep and narrow and really holding onto what they had. One of very few chances we had fell to Joe Dobby, but his effort crashed off the bar. A 2-0 defeat but the boys effort couldn’t be faulted and on another day we could of came away with something, but full credit to Saltash on how they defended when they went down to 10. Some good performances, Toby Morgan in goal for the first time played well, but man of the match went to Joe Dobby for his continued threat going forward. Byron10
Wadebridge 3 torpoint 4 Bailed out massively by a 90th min penalty for the win. Getting sick of saying it but should have been out of sight early doors. Full credit to the home side for getting 2 more goals while down to 10 men. Happy with chances created, not happy with how many missed however with the best G/D in the league it’s hard to criticise. Still not clicking perfectly but confident the boys will get back to playing well starting with Tuesdays game against many peoples favourites for the league - looe town.
