Looe Town 1st v St Stephen 1st

3-1

Not our prettiest game today. St Stephen looked dangerous in front of our goal and even though they had few chances they were keen to try and add to their tally.

Our first came from an early goal scored by Reece Willmott, aided by a great pass by Jimi Taylor. The game was scrappy, and the lads could not get into their rhythm. It was disappointing to hear players arguing and not focusing on their game.

With a lack of attention and not working as a team. St Stephen went and equalised around 17 minutes in. Adding more disruption to our team.

They also had a disallowed goal as their player when receiving the ball was yards offside.

Credit to our opponents, they new how to make our team push the self destruct button. For a while the lads just couldn’t get their heads back in the game.

The second half with a focus on keeping the ball and playing our game. The lads started to grow again. Unfortunately, during the second half the game become a stop start scenario for both teams. Neither could get a proper flow going. Looe did manage to get a second with a through pass from Aubrey Boxall into the feet of Finnley Bartlett to slot in the left side of the net.

Shortly after Aubrey made a great run from around 40 yards out to beat the defence an pass the ball into the back of the net.

St Stephen continued to cause us issues and with a silly tackle from one of our players. We gifted a chance to score from the spot.

The Stephen lad took a great penalty and aimed it towards the to left. Ryan Cooke anticipated the direction and pushed the ball wide and making a great save.

St Stephen’s league position is not to be confused with a poor team. I’m sure we, like other clubs will always find them a hard game.

St Dominic 4 St Mawgan 3

First Team Match Report #7

An experienced St Mawgan side were the visitors to Lovells this week, we knew this was going to be one of our toughest tests to date!

On reflection of the first 30 minutes we were playing the better of the football, but found ourselves two goals down to two goals from set pieces. We got ourselves back in the game before the break, through Joe Dobby who capitalised on some sloppy defending. 2-1 at the break and game on.

We come out of traps the quickest in the second half and Dobby had a great chance to equalise, unfortunately he couldn’t finish! On the hour mark, St Mawgan had another free kick in the corner and from it they headed in, to what most the people in the away dugout thought had claimed the points!

We had other ideas, and 10 minutes later new signing Connor Bone was brought down in the box and he dusted himself off to confidently convert the spot kick. Now it was all one way traffic, and 5 minutes later we were level, Adam Patterson found room from about 25yards, and his low shot found the back of the net.

The visitors thought they were wrongly not awarded a penalty at the other end, and their pain was made worst with one minute of normal time to go. Patterson again found himself in plenty of space in the centre of the pitch, and from around 30 yards let fly with a rocket of a shot that flew into the top corner. This sparked wild celebrations in the home dugout!!

5 minutes of injury time was played, Lewis Whittaker cleared off the line, and Jamie Blatchford made a superb save from former Newquay striker Harry Tilston. With everyone putting their bodies on the line, the final whistle came and again sparked celebrations within the home dugout and supporters!

A superbly well contested game of football, that was well refereed by Marc Whaley! A real display of never say die attitude from the home side, with the whole squad putting in a real shift! Sponsor for the game Vice chairman, Colin Olver, selected Patterson as man of the match for his two screamers and his defending late on!!

#UTD 💛🖤

Completely forgot.

st. breward 1 Torpoint 2

Good away win on another tough pitch. Tbf we’ve got lucky playing them at the best time of the year, one more to go on the 28th and then we can look forward to something flat 😂

should of been out of sight by HT but same old story of not taking our chances. 2-0 up with both goals coming from Ryan Easterbrook who was a constant threat untill he came off 15 mins into the second half injured.

hosts got a goal back with 10 or so mins to play via a set piece but other than that I don’t recall Harvey having to make a save throughout the 90 mins. (Is Tuesday now so I’m probably missing something)

FT 1-2, didn’t play well and again could have been done by HT. Not clicking properly at the moment but with the quality in the squad it’ll only be a matter of time before we replicate the first 3 performances of the season.

No game this weekend which is a blessing as we’ve about 70 lads with injuries. Fun bus booked for the 28th away at Kilkhampton where everyone’s timeline for full fitness is magically that date 🙌
