Cornwall FA in early stages of discussion with Bodmin Town re taking over ground

Official Statement from Cornwall FA – New HQ Location Announcement

Following our last update, where we shared our commitment to finding a suitable location for a new Cornwall FA Headquarters, we are pleased to provide an exciting update on our progress.

As part of our vision to not only establish a new HQ but also provide a 3G pitch for community use, we have been working to identify a site that would best meet the needs of Cornwall FA and the local football community. We are excited to share that we are continuing to make progress and have identified Bodmin Town FC, Priory Park as an optimal location.

We are currently in the early stages of discussions, working closely with Bodmin Council, Bodmin Town Football Club, and other key stakeholders to explore the viability and impact this new facility could have. This partnership will help us ensure that the new facility not only serves the operational needs of Cornwall FA but also provides valuable resources to the community, local clubs including access to football facilities.

Over the coming months, we will be engaging with the community and share updates as the project progresses. We are committed to keeping all stakeholders updated and informed throughout this process.

Thank you for your continued support as we work towards this exciting new chapter for Cornwall FA.

I find it surprising when the announcement uses the term 'early stages of discussions'. Anyone would think its 'just around the corner' when its not possible to get a cup of tea within the ground and the playing surface is shocking. Step 6, surely a bit more effort Bodmin Town FC?

Yes I have to admit I expected the announcement to be a little more exciting, factual and dynamic than it is!

Think we need to kill this myth that you can’t get a cup of tea , clubhouse is open every game to supply hot drinks to spectators, it’s no further of a walk than from the stands at wendron or millbrook who’s tea huts are past there turnstiles so again not in the ground ?  and many other grounds have a small walk to .

regarding the pitch it’s being cut and marked before most games and is withstanding 3 teams atm through some of this rain over  last weekend both games there fulfilled passing pitch inspections. We have played on worse this season .

A few brief points regards the rather vague statement from Cornwall FA:

There is no reference that Bodmin Town have a place at the proposed community facility, and if they do, what capacity will they have in any decision making process ongoing, such as priority for SWPL games etc?

I see there is reference to the dreaded plastic pitch idea. Will Bodmin Town have a separate grass pitch?

As this seems to be a sizable step forward aimed at generating more public participation at the venue, will there finally be free, independent parking, rather than having to chance a penalty ticket everytime you want to watch a bit of football?

Ask the Cornwall FA, that’s what I would do if I was that interested in this situation. Let’s all hope for free parking when we are choosing to watch local football and then spend our time dissecting every fault we can see, we can only dream.

Is this a Cornish thing?

Information has been shared to confirm something is happening (a massive positive)…yet people are already moaning that:

  • There's not enough information,
  • Works haven't started,
  • Parking
  • Cups of Tea 🤣

Surly learn a lesson for the new Truro City ground, and see what CAN happen in a relatively small time frame.  This a a massive step in the right direction for Cornish football.

What?.. like 3 quid for a low grade coffee at a non league game.

May well be a forum but the questions can probably only be answered by Cornwall FA (if they have the answers right now!).

Great questions though so if anyone is looking at the forum perhaps @Cornwall FA will be able to answer them in the future.

I might be wrong, but the way I was reading this was that the 3G pitch would probably go where the pitch to the side of Priory Park is now and possibly Bodmin Town would potentially get a new pitch out of this themselves. As for the free parking that would be perfect, totally agree.

Like I said ,might've mis-read a tiny bit !

Where in the statement do you see that the 3G pitch would go to the side of Priory Park. I see no mention of this?

I'm assuming CCFA will take over the whole site? And then potentially rent back to Bodmin?

Well done Cornwall FA 👍👏🏼🧡🖤. Would say Bodmin be the perfect venue for a project like this as well, just off the new A30. Not too far from anywhere in the county really.

Exactly what we need, just look at the Devon FA HQ at Newton Abbot! Be superb if we could have something along those lines, and hopefully a great old Cornish club like Bodmin will benefit from it along with a big catchment area of kids playing in the local community.

Good luck from an old dinasour with 83 county appearances! 😄🖤🧡  Always proud to pull on the shirt 👊🏼  Be great if we could get our Cornwall teams playing matches again especially at Youth level 👍

Totally in agreement with this move, as Ive always said and believed that Cornwall FA HQ should have a pitch alongside their offices, stuck in the back and beyond on an industrial estate in a unit seems to be very 1950`s donkey trying to win the Grand National. It would of been nice to get the Stadium for Cornwall we were promised and CCFA  to be based in Threemilestone, but I suppose that was wishful thinking!! I hope it all works out, but again I think this a long term plan and wont happen overnight as there are many, many hurdles to jump over and hoops to jump through.

Anyone that knows Priory Park is aware that there is huge area of grass next to Bodmin FC which common sense would say is where any potential 3G pitch would go.However we all know common sense and football rarely mix !

This would certainly make sense bighairydave, but like Mitchy has said it won't be overnight.
