So it didn't come home , the players sulked and wouldn't wear their medals ,   Trump was shot , the war in the Middle East and Ukraine goes on with people dying every day  but it is of no relevance because England lost a football tournament  . BUT we won the Test match , my near neighbour won the wheelchair singles at Wimbledon , Britain won the world speedway team final , we did well at the World Superbikes at Donington  but don't talk about it , the most important thing is " it's not coming home "  nothing else counts .

In spite of this end of the world as we know it didn't come , the sun came up with a smile over Great Yarmouth this morning and it will go down with a smile at Mawgan Porth tonight  .And the England players can come home and count their earnings  having done their best .I assume they did as I didn't watch it . The odd bits of any games that I did watch  were boring . My mate , like me in his late 70's says that the problem with our age group is that we were spoilt watching proper football , the Brazil 's, Italy's , West Germany's of the 70,s when the international players were proud to represent their countries  and tried to win games by scoring goals rather than not conceding them  .

I expect some flak over this .

Not flak as you expected but I would tend to think you might be wrong in thinking the players don’t take it as an honour to be able to represent their nation!

Just to clarify  things , my post wasn't directed at England fans but at the media who are obsessed with football to the detriment of other sports .
