cornishteddyboy
I see Dickie Evans has started fundraising to pull in £2.5M to keep Truro City and the Pirates going. He says he has £1.3M in the kitty but needs the rest. Says £2M for Pirates, and £500,000 is for Truro.
Way Of The Park
No shortage of plot twists in this soap opera. The piece on the BBC website advises that they are hopeful of completing the new ground by March 2024, which is around 9 months away. If so, they must be well underway with the construction work by now. Can anybody local to that area confirm this? Town Fan

Devils@Dusk
1 hour ago, Yourhavingalaugh said: So if I wish to put some money into the crowdfunder, how do I know that all my money is going in to save Truro City rather than the Pirates ? Exactly! My Uncle is a Pirates fan, and even he's said that he doesn't trust Dickie Evans! So we've gone from three parties interested in buying TCFC, to now wanting stakeholders/shareholders. Had I won a silly amount on the lottery, I'd consider it... Anyway, here's the article from the Truro City website: "CORNISH PIRATES AND TRURO CITY FC TO LAUNCH GROUNDBREAKING SEARCH FOR INVESTORS The owners of the two biggest professional sports clubs in Cornwall, the Cornish Pirates and Truro City Football Club, have today launched an exciting crowdfunding campaign aimed at raising £2.5m for both clubs. The announcement was made by Kernow Sport Limited, a new umbrella company designed to safeguard the future of professional rugby and football in the Duchy. The crowdfunding campaign provides ordinary members of the public, as well as more established investors, with an exciting opportunity to invest in professional sport in Cornwall. Both the Cornish Pirates and Truro City Football Club have strong aspirations to grow and develop. This season, the Cornish Pirates reached 5th in the Championship and the semi-finals of the Championship Cup. Meanwhile Truro City Football Club won the Southern League Premier South play-off final and gained promotion to National League South. Investors will be able to contribute as little as £10, but an exciting range of rewards will be unveiled in the coming weeks in return for higher contributions. The crowdfund campaign is being coordinated using the specialist fundraising platform Crowdcube, which is Europe’s largest equity crowdfunding platform allowing ordinary members of the public to buy shares in exciting businesses. People will be able to register an account with Crowdcube and express interest in investing in Kernow Sport Ltd from today, and anyone registered will be then invited to make their investment from June 2023. Anyone interested in investing can register their interest on the Crowdcube platform at https://www.crowdcube.com/pre-reg/kernow-sport-ltd Becki Thomas, Chief Executive Officer at Kernow Sport Ltd, said: “Both our clubs have been flying the St Piran flag with pride in English sport. This is a unique and rare opportunity to not just be a fan, but to own your own part of professional sport in Cornwall. “Working with our amazing community of fans and investors in this way means we can ensure the clubs have a solid future. We are now in advanced discussions with Cornwall Council and look forward to getting a new ground for our clubs up and running as soon as possible, and getting Truro City FC back playing football in Cornwall.” Kernow Sport Ltd Director Dicky Evans said: “It has been the honour of my life to take the Cornish Pirates into the top 20 of English Rugby and more recently to ensure that despite no home ground in Cornwall, that Truro City’s team were well funded and able to get promoted. It is a privilege to be a shareholder in these teams, and now that Kernow Sport owns both, I am delighted that it has opened the door to fans and investors to own a part of Pirates and TCFC and be fundamental to their success. “Fan ownership is a well worn path in other clubs and has given life and security to teams around the UK. TCFC and Pirates under Kernow Sport, are allowing new fan shareholders to come in on a rising tide of sporting success to be a part of an even greater future.” Cornish Pirates Joint Head Coach Alan Paver said: “This is an incredible opportunity to support our club and help develop the squad. All you need to do is register your interest on the Kernow Sport Ltd page of the Crowdcube website and the chance to invest will be announced soon. For one and all!” Truro City FC Head Coach Paul Wotton said: “This has been an incredible year for the White Tigers and making it possible for our loyal fans to invest in our development is the icing on the cake. I urge all Truro City fans, their families and friends to visit the Crowdcube page and register their interest as soon as possible.” Don’t invest unless you’re prepared to lose all the money you invest. sportsman10
That brilliant so the people of Truro are being asked to invest in their home team even tho the majority of them can’t even go to watch them. Why would anyone put money in not knowing at all we’re it is going. I mean would someone in Truro be happy their hard earn money is going towards refurbishing the Plymouth parkway toilets. mattelot

Phil
I'd rather invest my 10 quid with New Inn Titans. I'm not a business man, so how does Kernow sport Ltd make money to survive? Devils@Dusk

Devils@Dusk
Sorry, but when I see anything that includes Alex Black, I get instant "cringe". He should be a politician My father told me that Dickie Evans wants to see City in League 2 (it was on the BBC's Red Button service). I can be (slightly) optimistic. But I'd have to be on a bottle of Prozac a day, to be that optimistic (I'm not saying that Mr. Evans is. But I'm more of a pessimist, so it's harder to believe/picture). As Rocky170267 said, they're Plymouth-based players, are they going to want to do the trips to Truro for evening matches? @Phil Through income made by the Pirates, and City. Player sponsorship, billboard advertisements, website advertisements and sponsors, shirt/kit sponsors, ticket (sold online and at the gate) and season ticket sales, etc. The Pirates average attendance is over 1,000 (although I couldn't tell you how much a ticket costs). Hmm - City I like, Pirates I don’t give a stuff about. Wouldn’t want to commit any money to the latter and it seems like most money raised will go that way. It is a NO from me. Think Tricky Dickie not going to pull the wool over people’s eyes with that one! Devils@Dusk

Alan Partridge
Is the money going towards day to day running of the clubs or trying to fund new stadium? I'd rather see Truro playing back home at a lower level than continue this nomadic existence. The Jam Tart

sportsman10
I still don’t get what you’re investing in ? How do you make any money back ?? no ground , and any small amount money generated during match days. With drink and food etc goes straight into parkway pockets And even if you are a die hard fan. The chances are 85p of your pound will go to prop up the rugby anyway . Absolutely mad idea. Yes its not an investment opportunity its a plea for funds which has been done in a really odd and borderline dishonest way IMO.
