We had requested the pitch was cut during the week but due to matters out of our control it wasn’t.

Unfortunately we’re a small club and rely on local people to help out, we don’t have our own maintenance facilities to hand.

In the morning we notified St Columb and the league conditions weren’t great as the grass/growth would make life pretty difficult.

We were advised that the ref would have to make the final call so prepared as normal and let St Columb know previous to them travelling it was out of our hands and up to the ref on inspection.

With both teams present the ref decided he wasn’t happy for the game to go ahead.

Pretty much it.

Pretty certain 15 players, management  and some personal mowers would’ve sorted that on Friday evening and Saturday morning… sorry laddie that sounds like  you folks couldn’t be asked .. every club is a small club who rely on volunteers … no excuse in my book

Excuse for what?

Both sets of players were there ready and the ref called it off..

Not every club is a small club in the context or our league. Can hardly compare a club like ours to a Torpoint, Blazey, Waderidge etc

I think what he means is that between the players and management you could of cut the grass yourselves.

In your opinion with the pitch the way it was, could you have played?

It possibly could have, but understood the reasons why it wasn’t.
I’d say players on both sides 50/50 as well.

So again… just to clarify… not one person involved in the club has a mower… would’ve taken at the most 20 mins to run along the lines at a minimum.. what do you think every other club around has to do to put a game on? If the “we couldn’t cut the grass” excuse is going to be accepted alongside every other weather based line that’s spun this new league will not finish its first year on time for certain! Just can’t believe you didn’t even make an effort to try

And i think what AVFC4 is telling you is, they don't have the equipment for that. Not hard too understand 🤔

So 11 players plus subs and management don't have a couple of lawn mowers between them? Must be some long grass in your lots gardens.

Ur on a different planet if u think players r gonna come n cut a pitch mate,it's hard enough to get them to put balls back in the bag or drinks bottles back in the holder 🤣

So your norm is to have a club which has players that can’t be bothered to help their own club… and so help get a game played… likewise the managers unable or unwilling to motivate them to do so…or pitch in … supporters unwilling to assist… and all for the want of a lawnmower???? … on my planet davegrose being part of a club should mean something to all those involved across the board… especially at the closing of a season…but  evidently I am in the minority.
I hope the league (in one of its last acts) sees fit to at least award the game to st Columb maj who .. no doubt… would gladly have brought their own mower along to get the game on had they known
