St Dominick 4 (Barrett pen 23, pen 46, Ryall 53, Morgan 77) Foxhole 1 (Bould 55) At Dobwalls

Gallant Foxhole’s run in the Intermediate cup came to an end at the semi-final stage against an excellent St Dominick side who were just too good. The first half was pretty even, the Foxes playing some great stuff at times, but they were rarely able to seriously threaten an imposing defence. Ryall made the most of a collision with Prynn when clean through to allow Barrett to blast the spot-kick down the middle, but the half time discussions among the Goverseth faithful were optimistic. Hopes of drawing level were shattered within seconds of the restart, though, as Damerell saw red for a second foul, Barrett gleefully despatching the penalty. Prynn’s error soon after was ruthlessly punished by Ryall, but, to their credit, Foxhole battled back when a brilliant move was finished by Bould heading home Rowe’s fine cross. St Dominick were briefly rattled, but they soon restored their three-goal advantage when Morgan netted following a scramble.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to St Dominick. Many thanks to Sam Doble, Ashley Morris, Simon Mann and Alan Hoon.

St Dennis 1 (Harvey 60) Foxhole 14 (Bidgood 3, 41, 46, Bould 10, 57, 75, Prynn 20, Rowe 20, 37, 47, 53, Reed-Bennett 76, Butler 81, 88)

Foxhole maintained their title charge with an emphatic victory. Bidgood’s volley started the ball rolling early on, Bould soon capitalising on Harvey’s backpass to double the lead from a tight angle. After Bennett had upended the marauding Peers, Prynn smashed a tremendous free-kick past the despairing Boyle, who was soon beaten again by Rowe at the near post for the first of his quadruple. His second swiftly followed, converting a clever one-two with Peers, before Bould’s quickly taken throw-in released Bidgood to display great feet and fire home.

Within a hundred seconds of the restart, it was eight. First a rapid break led to Bould heading on for Rowe to race clear, his unselfish pass eagerly finished by Bidgood to complete his trio, a feat soon matched by Rowe himself from close range. His fourth duly arrived when Mitchell’s mis-hit effort fell kindly, Bould then bagging the tenth, again from just a few yards, after selfless work from Beresford and Bidgood. St Dennis had battled gamely, and were rewarded when O’Brien’s inswinging corner was nodded in by an unmarked Harvey, but the visitors were in no mood to ease off and banged in four more in the final quarter hour. Bould became the third Fox to accomplish a hat-trick, robbing Bennett to shoot into the corner, just ahead of the goal of the game, a screamer into the top corner by Reed-Bennett from twenty-five yards. The impressive Butler made it thirteen from the spot after Bennett had crudely impeded Bidgood, before rounding off the scoring, his task made simple by dint of excellent support down the right by Peers and Mitchell.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to St Dennis. Many thanks to Alan Howells and the St Dennis linos.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers, Tyler Cheshire, Angel Coates, Charlie Prynn; Jake Couch, Aaron Beresford, Andrew Butler; Benno Bould, Cameron Bidgood, Courtney Rowe. Subs: Lee Reed-Bennett, Aidan Dingle, Brodie Mitchell.

St Dennis: Damian Boyle; Sid Bennett, Perry Harvey, Eli O’Brien, Ryan Worrall, Miles Neville, Jordan Pope, Dave Grose, Gary George, Paul Rowe, Ash Taylor. Subs: Zac Best, Nathan Chapman.

Foxhole 5 (Peers 3, Bould 11, 31, 57, Butler 59) St Dennis 0

Boosted by the inclusion of Dave Rickard, St Dennis at least made it more difficult for the Foxes than during Saturday’s rout by defending deeper and in far greater numbers, while some of the home finishing was less than clinical. Peers netted from a yard early doors, once the visitors had failed to clear Rowe’s free-kick, before Bidgood’s effort was converted from even closer range by Bould, who nabbed the third by heading Butler’s deep cross past the beleaguered Boyle. Foxhole lacked the ruthless streak to threaten another double-digit score, contenting themselves with just the five. Bould’s header from Rickard’s centre was a carbon-copy of his second goal, and Butler found the bottom corner from twenty yards with a first time shot from Peers’ assist.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to St Dennis. Many thanks to Dale England and the visiting linos.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers, Tyler Cheshire, Lee Rickard, Charlie Prynn; Angel Coates, Aaron Beresford, Andrew Butler; Benno Bould, Cameron Bidgood, Courtney Rowe. Subs: Levi Kerrigan, Luke Damerell, Jake Couch.

St Dennis: Damian Boyle; Sid Bennett, Eli O’Brien, Dave Rickard, Miles Neville, Jordan Brokenshire, Dave Grose, Ash Taylor, Lee Hazeldine, Nathan Chapman, Callum Worrall. Subs: Zac Best, Paul Rowe, Ryan Worrall.

Foxhole 4 (Couch 17, Rowe 52, Beresford 73, 78) St Stephen (Guest 62)

Overcoming a fierce wind blowing across the pitch, both sides played their part in an entertaining game. The visitors were resilient and briefly threatened a comeback when Guest bravely met Cooke’s dead-ball from the halfway line to head past stand-in keeper Bould to make it 2-1. Any home nerves were soon settled when Beresford notched a late brace, but in truth the Foxes should have been out of sight in the first half but their finishing lacked a cutting edge. Instead they had to be content with Couch’s great header from Butler’s corner to the far post, although Rowe doubled the lead soon after the restart, blasting an unstoppable free-kick past Julian from twenty yards. By then, Bould had replaced the hobbling Prynn between the sticks, the subsequent re-shuffle allowing Cheshire to venture forward, and he in particular was a constant danger to the game visitors. Further opportunities were squandered before Jowan Dingle’s deep cross was eventually hooked in by Beresford, who then combined brilliantly with Kerrigan to smash home the fourth.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to St Stephen. Many thanks to Paul Cackett and Ian Trevenna.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers, Tyler Cheshire, Luke Damerell, Angel Coates; Aaron Beresford, Andrew Butler, Jake Couch; Benno Bould, Cameron Bidgood, Courtney Rowe. Subs: Levi Kerrigan, Lee Rickard, Aidan Dingle, Jowan Dingle.

Foxhole 5 (Bould 2, 19, 28, Bidgood 50, Damerell 60) Looe 0

The Foxes registered a routine victory, comfortably picking off a gallant visiting outfit. Bould met Bidgood’s inswinging corner at the far post with a firm header early on, and soon grabbed a second,   finishing off a flowing move by turning inside the left-back and firing home. For the second time this season Looe failed to beat a Prynn brother from the spot, Taylor blasting his penalty over after Coates had been penalised for a foul, and were made to pay when Bould completed his latest hat-trick from an acute angle. Foxhole remained in control in the second half without ever having to reach top gear, Bidgood claiming the fourth following Beresford’s trickery to beat the excellent Cooke at his near post, before Damerell found the net from close range on the hour.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Looe. Many thanks to Jo Harris and the Looe linos.

Torpoint 1 (Ross 58) Foxhole 3 (Rowe 24, Bould 37, 38)

In arguably their best forty-five minutes of the season, Foxhole reached half-time three goals to the good with a brilliant display of dazzling and resilient football interspersed with sweeping long balls. Torpoint held out until Rowe’s dipping volley from thirty yards proved too hot to handle for Jackson, who was soon beaten again when Bould guided home left-footed from the edge of the box following good work from Bidgood. Within seconds it was three when Prynn’s huge kick was not dealt with by White for Bould to gratefully capitalise. With nothing to lose, Torpoint went for it after the break, and, while enjoying more of the ball, failed to seriously threaten Prynn except when the diminutive outside-right Ross struck an effort from twenty yards through a ruck of bodies. With their defence standing firm, and the home team piling forward, the Foxes still looked the more likely to grab the game’s fifth goal on frequent breaks, coming closest when Bould’s shot on the turn bounced back off the bar.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers, Luke Damerell, Angel Coates, Lee Rickard; Aaron Beresford, Levi Kerrigan, Aidan Dingle; Benno Bould, Cameron Bidgood, Courtney Rowe. Subs: Jowan Dingle, Lee Reed-Bennett, Jake Couch, Tyler Cheshire.

Torpoint: Harry Jackson; Ryan Warren, Aidan Bark, Zak Pearce, Jake White, Byron Robbins, Dominic Murray, Lewis Pacey, Aaron Cullerton, Cameron Ross, Josh Payn. Subs: Ed Clarke, Boyd Halls, Myles Rio Driver, Tom Rowe.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Torpoint. Many thanks to Barry Bottrill and the home linos.

St Newlyn East 1 (London 81) Foxhole 3 (Rowe 25, Bould 64, Charlie Prynn 76)

Bogey side Newlyn were typically resilient and tidy in their play, their organisation making it difficult for the Foxes to break down, and they possessed the game’s outstanding players in Brooker, uncannily able to thwart the visitors with timely interceptions, and Prentice, whose positioning to field efforts on goal was excellent. As a result, it was never a vintage Foxes display, their cause not helped by the early withdrawals of both Bidgood, floored by a bad challenge which led to a broken foot, and Peers, whose hamstring appeared to go. Nevertheless, once Rowe had opened the scoring by tapping home after Prentice had parried Aidan Dingle’s drive, the outcome was never in doubt as the home team lacked sufficient attacking threat, despite London’s excellent back-to-goal play.

Foxhole improved after the break, enjoying far more of the ball, reducing Newlyn to sporadic breakaways. Paradoxically, Prentice was required to make fewer saves, as attempts on target were at a premium, although Bould did double the lead when he latched on to Coates’ huge clearance to chip the keeper from an acute angle. Charlie Prynn then showed good trickery to fire home the third left-footed off the far post from twenty yards, before Rickard’s error was gleefully pounced on by London late on.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Wednesday Newlyn. Many thanks to Gary Cornish and the home lino.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers, Luke Damerell, Angel Coates, Lee Rickard; Aaron Beresford, Levi Kerrigan, Aidan Dingle; Benno Bould, Cameron Bidgood, Courtney Rowe. Subs: Jowan Dingle, Lee Reed-Bennett, Jake Couch, Tyler Cheshire, Charlie Prynn.

St Newlyn East: Nathan Prentice; Cameron Burt, Ross Emery, Ben Lawrence, Sam Lawrence, Harry Mugford, Will Perry, Russell Brooker, Jackson Rochford, James Turpie, Owen London. Subs: Steve Harris, Sonny Summers – Evans.

North Petherwin 0 Foxhole 2 (Bould 65, Rowe pen 74)

A strong second half performance saw off a spirited home team who had edged the first half without quite having the prowess to unlock a defence in which Coates again stood out. After an opening period during which they created nothing of note and found it difficult to retain the ball, the Foxes were much better after the break, but found the keeper in brilliant form, the custodian bravely foiling Couch when one-on-one and, astonishingly, Rowe from point-blank range. However, he was eventually to be beaten at his near post by a low drive from Bould, who had moments prior been denied by a tight offside call. Other than being sold short on a backpass, which saw Sharpe’s shot being cleared off the line by Beresford, James Prynn remained untroubled; by contrast, his opposite number was soon helpless to prevent Rowe’s penalty after the keeper had upended the rampaging Damerell.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to North Petherwin. Many thanks to Julian Cook and the home linos.

Nanpean 1 (Brown 65) Foxhole 0

In the first clay country derby since 2006, Nanpean shattered the Foxes’ unbeaten league record with a deserved victory. Foxhole created virtually nothing after some initial half chances went begging, unable to break down a defiant home defence even after Truscott donned the gloves once Harbone limped off after a collision with Bonney with thirty-five minutes still remaining. The lethargic performance could easily have resulted in a heavier defeat as Wilshaw saw an effort tipped over while Leo Best blazed his shot too high when well placed. The game was decided by Brown’s close range header at the far post from Rowe’s deep cross from the right, the sort of incisive play that the champions were strangely incapable of replicating throughout.

Good luck to Nanpean. Many thanks to Tom McCormick and Ciaran Igoe.

Foxhole (4-3-3): James Prynn; Tim Peers (sub. Andrew Butler), Luke Damerell, Angel Coates, Lee Rickard; Aaron Beresford, Aidan Dingle, Jake Couch (sub. Levi Kerrigan); Benno Bould, Charlie Prynn (sub. Jowan Dingle), Courtney Rowe.

Foxhole 4 (Bould 21, Butler 49, Rowe 53, Damerell 66) Nanpean 0

Foxhole comfortably won the last ever East Cornwall League game to avenge last week's debacle. Quickly taking charge, their account was opened when, following a foul on Aidan Dingle by Trebilcock, Butler floated in the free-kick for Bould to loop a header over the stranded Harbone. Despite carving out a number of opportunities, the second did not arrive until the teams had changed ends, Damerell's centre being cleverly nodded home by Butler. Rowe made it three, firing in at the far post after Jowan Dingle had robbed Best, before Damerell headed in Butler's corner.

Well played the super Foxes. Good luck to Nanpean. Many thanks to Paul Cackett and Ciaran Igoe.
