Blaise Park - the place to be this evening!

Recommended Posts

I’m sure the neutrals would love to see Blazey loose. What a cliffhanger that would mean for Saturdays last game of the season against Wendron. Personally hope I come home with some fingernails left, early goal to ease the nerves would be good.

Big win expected for St Blazey tonight, do we have any news if they are going to go into the Toolstation league as of yet?

They have to, otherwise they'll be a St Piran side next season:

5.4 At Steps 1 to 6, if a Club becomes eligible to take part in a Play Off Match and refuses to take part in that
match or if a Club qualifies for promotion and refuses to be promoted then that Club shall be relegated
from the division it last played in and shall play the following Playing Season in the division at the next
Step level below. If the refusal/ineligibility applies to a Club currently operating at Step 6, the Club will
be removed from the NLS and placed in the appropriate Regional NLS Feeder League, provided there
is an eligible Club at Feeder League level to replace them.

Congratulations to St Blazey for securing the title tonight. Well deserved over the course of the season.
Please forgive our lack of Twitter congratulations but our account has been compromised by someone in Washington DC, unless we are under takeover of a US consortium.

We look forward to taking on the champions at Blaise Park this weekend.

Have you heard something to say they shouldn’t?

Can't say I have. The travel for players in the Western league is outrageous. Most have families and full time jobs, was just wondering if all the players have committed to what is considered a huge commitment.

I don't get this "one life one club" thing. Most of the players have had more clubs than I've had hot meals.

Always one... These lads have just won the SWPL. The buzz these must be feeling. Not only the players, the supporters and young kids of the club who spend every Saturday watching these lads HOME & AWAY! Well done St Blazey.

Highlights from last nights win and the wonderful sceanes after the match and in the clubhouse after.

Sticker must get alot of credit. Gave it a right go. Their no 14 was very good last night.

Brilliant evening, more to come on Saturday and its going to be a cracking day.

Western league football next season. Cannot wait for a new adventure in local football.

Champions 🏆 😀

Yes, there is extra traveling, but wouldn't say it is outrageous. Projections for the composition of the Western League Prem in 2023/24 taken from non league matters.co.uk (admittedly, positions and relegation/promotion issues based on the season ending today) have 10 of the 20 clubs being from Devon and Cornwall. They have Keynsham as joining the migration to the Hellenic.

Yes, it is a commitment, but the clubs that have gone up seem to have embraced it.

Projected clubs as below;

1 Ashton & Backwell United BS48 3HQ WNP
2 Barnstaple Town EX31 1JQ WNP
3 Bridgwater United TA6 4TZ WNP
4 Buckland Athletic TQ12 5JU WNP
5 Clevedon Town BS21 6TG WNP
6 Falmouth Town TR11 4PB WNP
7 Helston Athletic TR13 8PJ WNP
8 Ilfracombe Town EX34 8AB WNP
9 Millbrook AFC PL10 1FE WNP
10 Shepton Mallet BA4 5XN WNP
11 Sherborne Town DT9 5NS WNP
12 Street BA16 0TA WNP
13 Torpoint Athletic PL11 2RE WNP
14 Wellington AFC TA21 8NE WNP
15 Welton Rovers BA3 2QD WNP
16 Willand Rovers EX15 2RG SLS
17 Nailsea & Tickenham BS48 2AS WN1
18 Wells City BA5 1TU WN1
19 St. Blazey PL24 2ND SWW
20 Brixham TQ5 9UE SWE

Five clubs, five leagues in one season. Can anybody better that? 😀

Luke Cloke is on a par with clubs he’s signed for this season!!!! Torpoint - western League, St Blazey SWPL, Polperro St Pirans, St Blazey Res ECPL and Mt Gould too…

Close, by I would still judge River Allen to be the winner (St Blazey and St Blazey Res are technically one club).

Not sure, they don't appear in either the Western or Hellenic projections. Gather that Brislington feature many of the former Bitton players, so there thoughts on making the trips down to South Devon and Cornwall may be interesting.

Question from the quiz in last nights programme at St Blazey.

How many teams have St Blazey played this season that they also played in the very first season in the South West Peninsula league?

Can you name them?

Not going to name them (I cheated and looked on FCHD 🙄), was surprised by how few it was though.

I'm led to believe Brislington can't be promoted following their 'requested relegation' the previous season. Believe that was one of the conditions set out by the FA.

Congratulations St Blazey on being Champions and winning more points than other team in the league.

From a small number of posts and cornwallsportsmedia etc it seemed a good game at Blaize Park in front of 345.

Will we get a match report? I saw somewhere that Sticker gave Blazey a game and belied the 14 place gap in league position?

Fantastic achievement winning the league but lets be honest, with the standard being at an all time low and the budget/players they had available, it was a given really.

Talk of river Allen going back to Tiverton next season. Be a loss for Blazey if he does

End up at Mount Gould with Cloke & Russell.

Realistically, he was only biding his time at Blazey.  Step 3 player, they should appreciate the season they had from him at Blaise Park.

Announced by Tiverton Town as a new signing for the upcoming season.

To be honest, step 3 is where River Allen belongs.
