Good Friday 7th April Results

Recommended Posts

I was expecting a Mousehall win today, pressure on now this Monday v 9th place Cleveden, having said that I expect them to win that game and secure the title.

Good win today for Town in front of a large noisy crowd. (491).Disappointed with the league to be honest that they had Mousehole v Helston on both Xmas and Easter BH fixtures. Still a big turn out at Bickland but a bit of local spice next season should be good.

Torpoint Athletic 2-0 Millbrook

Toolstation Western League, Premier Division

On a glorious Good Friday morning at The Mill in front of a bumper crowd of 362, Torpoint Athletic got all three points against local rivals Millbrook, who themselves have got more than one eye on Easter Monday when they are appearing in their first Cornwall Senior Cup Final since 1999, where they are playing fellow Western League Premier Division opposition Helston Athletic.

In the opening ten minutes of the match both sides were trying out either sides defences until the visitors had the first chance of the match when Jack Wood crosses the ball into the area for Ryan Knight to head his effort inches over the crossbar from 10 yards.

On the 20th minute, a shot by Torpoint’s Darren Hicks from the corner of the area, this was well saved by the visiting keeper Jake Mead-Crebbin.

Five minutes later Tyler Love Holmes for Millbrook had an angle shot from 18 yards which just went over the crossbar from the edge of the area.

Just after the half hour mark, a good cross in to the area by the home sides Noah Maund to find Curtis Damerell to blast his shot over the crossbar.

On the 37th minute, good build up play by the hosts finds Curtis Damerell on the corner of the box, who turns and smashes home giving the visiting keeper no chance and putting home side in the lead.

With five minutes remaining of the first half, the home side are looking to double their lead when good build up play by Curtis Damerell and Paul Heveran that finds Noah Maund with only a defender on the line to beat, but he blasts his effort over the cross bar.

The second half is only a minute old when Ryan Knight for the visitors broke clear of the home defence just past the half way line, he beats the home keeper Jason Peters and fires home from the edge of the box, but out of nowhere Jake Smith sprints back and clears the ball off the line.

Five minutes later the home side have another chance to double their lead, when Callum Thompson and Damerell interchange passes for Damerell to lift his shot just over the crossbar from 12 yards.

Just before the hour mark, Caleb Summerfield for the visitors fires his effort just wide from 18 yards after breaking clear of the home defence, then a minute later, Damerell for Torpoint just goes wide from the edge of the area.

The visitors start putting some pressure on their hosts as they are looking for an equaliser, and on the 85th minute Ben Goulty hits an effort from 20 yards which is well saved by Jason Peters.

In the second minute of stoppage time, the home side double their lead against the run of play. Ryan Richards breaks clear of the visiting defence and cuts into the area, he beats the keeper with a one on one and fires home in front of jubilant home fans.
