A 51st minute own goal was the difference between the two teams in a well contested decent game of football in front of a healthy crowd. Got to say congrats to the Hayle groundsman, what a pitch!!! Best I’ve seen this season in local football in any league!! Was wondering how the surface would be after hearing Greggs had retired after all his great work over the years but got to say the excellent standards have been kept up at Trevassack Park! What a pleasure for the players to play on. 👍👏🏼  Pretty even game for 70 minutes before Hayle piled on the pressure at the end searching for an equaliser and my old mate and team mate Phil Rees playing in goal put in an inspired performance making probably 5/6 great saves during the game but particularly late on his handling and bravery was impeccable!  The only goal came when Perranwell right back Danhi Harvey made a strong run down the right and his dangerous cross was headed high into the net by the unlucky defender with the keeper committed. Will Snapes in the visitors midfield was never far from the action with captain Lachlan Brace always a threat and all the back four had great games. The Hayle front 3 with Cameron Irish at centre forward with the two quick lads either side looked like they had goals in them but the Wells defending was superb on the night and kept them relatively quiet chances wise. Strong ref who set his stall out early and stamped his authority on the game, quite scary at times to be fair!! Refs revenge!! 😀👍 🤔. Overall a nice evenings St.Piran league football and well worth the £6 for me and the mrs. And what a pitch!! 👍👏🏼

Good summation Rappo, Reesy was outstanding in goal last night!

Shame about the events after the final whistle. That sort of behaviour towards the referee has no place in football, however you think he may or may not have performed. No wonder there is a shortage of refs. Credit to the officials from Hayle for promptly restraining the individual concerned and stopping a very ugly situation becoming much worse. Very sad end to an entertaining nights football.

Could that be Illogan out of the title race ?

I would say so, although I've always felt for a while it was merely an outside chance. They're doing the opposite of last season perhaps and leaving the league for someone else as they're concentrating on the two cups!

Saltash United 1-6 Gunnislake

I think it further shows the gap between Saltash Borough, St Dominick, Gunnislake and the rest of the league this season. Polperro and Altarnun have had impressive seasons thus far but face tough run ins.

Be interesting to hear from someone at the game.
