League Mergers

Recommended Posts

So with Clubs receiving the email from Richard Pallot this morning, can anyone give their take on what they understand to be happening with the proposed / happening of the Mergers of The Leagues?

Not sure what your question is exactly Asterix? We know Step 7 and below in Cornwall is merging to come under one umbrella already after a vote in each league. Same rules will apply to all, promotion/relegation will be in place. One large league structure under the current St Piran banner, rather than Step 7 being separate to all below. A larger number of clubs gives a larger opportunity for funding from the FA too. One joint committee for all. Hopefully this spreads the workload but increases the valuable experience currently in use in each league. Never easy when a committee member is dual hatting or swamped with a lot of work. At this stage what else do we really need to know? As long as behind the scenes it is progressing and we have peace of mind we'll all have a league ready for us to compete in come August I'm content for now.

Ok so my question is.

What’s going to be the difference league structure wise…. What teams go where and what leagues etc?

Is it a drastic change, from the league format and divisions now?

League winners now, what leagues do they go in etc!

Ok thanks. Lots still to be decided but the early discussions covered the amount of leagues in east and west, the amount of clubs/fixtures in each, etc. Some leagues now IMO are too small. 18 league games a season does not sustain commitment.

I know a couple of clubs from the ECPL and Combo have applied for Step 7 to the current St Piran setup. Other than their success of application, no one is being "forced" up at present. But ECPL and Combo and below normal promotions/relegations will take place. And if as I predict the number of leagues reduce, some clubs will "go up" to increase the size of leagues.

I've only been at one meeting with the CCFA before Xmas and one with my own league 5 weeks ago, so this plus this morning's email is all I have to go on so what I've said above may not be entirely accurate. But at least we have an idea. I've also heard a draft rules has been put together, but I've not seen it yet.

And will there be one overall committee or a committee for each division? And how will these places be decided or are the positions all going to be held by County FA personnel?

My interpretation of the email is one overall committee, but larger. Hopefully this means a shared workload or a group mailbox approach for example rather than rely on one person for each role. We've been asked to express an interest if you're keen to join. New roles well be created due to the merger, and existing roles re-elected.
