Storm 1 pendeen 7

anorher week that was a tough day out for storm. A lot better than the week before and it seems we are heading in the right direction.

reffed by a volunteer, terry sturgeon, who was fair throughout the game. Also a total gent and refused to take a match fee instead saying put the money back into the club

Thank god we don’t play pendeen again

Ive just heard that chacewater and Constantines game turned into a boxing match what a bunch of idiots

Only idiot is the Constantine manager! He was the only one to punch anyone and it was at our 16year old player. Absolutely disgusting needs the biggest ban and fine punching a 16year old in the face.

Also what I heard. Young kid punched by a manager. Absolutely disgusting behaviour

Was there anything leading up to this happening? It was it completely out of the blue?

don’t get me wrong I’m not condoning the behaviour just asking what led ip to it happening

Couldn’t agree more. The game was fair with some hard challenges occasionally mistimed from both teams however nothing that a normal game doesn’t have.

back fired though as both teams were offered to play on by the ref as long the tine manager left which chacewater declined like any team 3-0 down at the time would of.

Scoreline didn't matter, its the fact that temperatures were high and didn't want it getting any worse. A 16 year old gets punched in the face for no reason and we should just carry on with the game as nothing has happened. Definitely the right decision to not carry on.

Re-read what I said. I agreed with you and said it back fired on Constantine & I meant because the one time they were looking like getting 3 points

Credit to St day 🤝 watching from the sides they kept a solid shape and looked very hard to break down and kept going. The ref seemed to have been very questionable in the decisions he gave.

A big mention to the St day goalkeeper unreal performance from the young chap today. Overall a great game, pitch was awesome tasty food after look forward to seeing you in the return fixture

New inn titans 5 - 2 St Buryan

Johnny Jones 2

Michael Catterall 2

Nico Penfold

Today marked the penultimate game of the League Campaign. Home vs St Buryan.

Shaun had a scratch squad, with key players missing, Captain Boz, Joshy S and Jack Pacy!

So on the bench today with a combined age, of 120, and the fittest players in the squad by a country mile, was Shaunny I, Mushy and Ralph P.

The pitch looked like Aladdins Rug. Perfect surface for this time of year, and Ryan “bear” Baber, had only gone and purchased a new pair of boots. 16th pair this season.

Game kicked off and St buryan had obviously come to cause an upset! They were up to every first and second ball, and titans couldn’t get themselves settled! The Gaffer isaacs was Red faced more than normal and spitting feather’s on the touchline !!!

Anyways, after a bit of link up play the ball got put into the box and Ever present finisher Johnny the bull smashed it into the net!!! 1-0

Titans thought they was going to get into it but just couldn’t get a strangle hold on the game, and Buryan were matching Titans.

Some great battles all over the Park, with the young Winger giving “Robocop” Barrington-Smith a challenge to overcome.

And then a ball falls between Baber and the Opposing midfielder, after Babers boots didn’t have enough dubbing on, gave a stray touch, Baber was 70/30 underdog to win the ball, but “CRACK” a great challenge seen Baber emerge with the ball, and Gazza on the sideline, shouted out in joy

“That’s it Ryan baber, you’re back to your best”

Chris ward was running their right back ragged when he had the chances! Pacey as hell, but Mushy noticed “He needs to work on cardio when at the gym this week”

10 minutes before the break a foul on edge of the titans box gave Buryan a free kick! Up step Buryan player and nestled the ball in the bottom corner of Titans net, straight from the Free kick.

“Mushy we’re going in at half time, cause the boys are going to hear what I think” - shouted Shaun isaacs to his assistant. And then moments to go before the break a great break and ball through and Titans Found the net again Nico Penfold with a finish 2-1 half time, and it might have saved the hair drier treatment..?

Did it heck, the boys got in, Lit up their Rollies and Issacs was not happy and he was that wound up his beany hat kept slipping off his head as he was shouting …

“Don’t drop our standards, this is the worst game we’ve played all season”

And a few unpleasantries added in, and the boys were told!!

Out they went tails between their legs!

Second half kicked off, and Titans seemed to have listened a little and got the ball down a bit more, more composed passes and having faith in holding on to the ball.

Starting stringing together some passages of play and some good play down the wing got Wardy in the box, he played it across the box and missed Johnny the bull but it got to Catt, who slotted it home! Lovely. 3-1

Nico Penfold, was demanding more, and tried to rally the boys up. Robert Penfold who was slotting in at the back, was holding the back 4 together.

Then titans made a couple subs, and with 15 to go, put the ball in the net again! 4-1. Titans grabbed another one shortly after 5-1, 5 mins to go.

The tricky young winger found is way into the box, and without any warning a Big gust of wind, crossed the Illogan park and blew him over!

Whistle goes… PENALTY. What? Titans couldn’t believe it.

Said striker says… “What does it matter? You’re 5-1 up”

Not the point.

Penalty converted. Whistle does for full time.

5-2 win for Titans. 17/17 in the league.

MOM - Robert Penfold.

Onto Percy Stephens action this Saturday - Penryn Athletic.

Newlyn Non Athletico (1) 2 -vs- 0 (0) Goonhavern Athletic - Percy Stevens Cup

I take it that GA have been playing under a disguise this season? Languishing at the foot of Division 2, with 1 win to their name, and facing relegation in the face, against NNA, looking odds-on to regain promotion to the Premier Division after one season. On paper, a home win. Football isn't played on paper. Maybe GA have been targeting the Percy Stevens Cup all along, and made their arrival into this completion by unleashing their true selves? "Surprise - we are actually very good". Looking back, upon arrival at the pitch, at about five past 2, we should have thought they might up for the game, with plastic cones strewn across the pitch, and some fancy running and things going on by the fully kitted up visitors. I thought those pre-match rituals were reserved for the teams that really did think they were really good, even though they are still only playing grass roots football. Anyway, the game got underway, and a rather tight, well matched contest ensued.

A mention to the referee, who let's say, was very efficacious with his laws of the game interjections. And might I say, is a good tackler, managing to thwart 2 or 3 attacks by Newlyn with well-timed challenges in midfield.

Back to the action, and the first half was close. Chances at both ends. The bobbly pitch did not lend itself well to great football, but to be fair, that is what both teams set out to do. Passing and moving, rarely trying the "long pass" over the top. It was left to a moment reminiscent of the 1970 World Cup Final to break the deadlock. Sadly, the 20-odd passes leading up to the goal were not there, but Newlyn were pressing down the left, edge of the area, and Charlier Penney taking the role of Pele, noticed the run of Mike Eddy, playing the role of Carlos Alberto, and rolled the ball towards the other side of the area, where Eddy, not breaking stride, smashed the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Nice. And probably deserved on balance.

Second half was a slight different story, where Newlyn took more control. A word for Tetley in the centre of defence for Newlyn, not allowing GA to conjure up anything in the final third. Try they did, but Tetley was there, constantly denying them an opportunity. And at the other end, Jack Liddicoat, trying to smash his way to 500 goals in one season, kept hitting everything apart from the back on the net. It was left to his striking partner, Adam Stronger, who did a one-man press after a short goal kick, making a tackle, the ball breaking nicely, and hitting it firmly past the keeper. Two nil.

It looked like game over, but the last 10 minutes was made marginally more interesting when Andrew Palmer thought he might know the Laws of the Game more thoroughly than todays referee. Not so Mr Palmer. Here is a yellow card, now leave the pitch to read this section of the Laws concerning the off-side rule. It was his pitch, his game.

GA did force a save and a couple of corners, but NNA stood firm. A deserved victory.

Good luck to Goonhavern for the rest of this season. I would expect them to win a few more matches to be honest.
