Culdrose reserves games against us (Probus) is also off due to ‘extra operational duties’ this weekend.

Yeah. John Roberts is getting his Furry Dance drum carried up Meneage Street. Needs an armed escort and a full complement of defensive drones.

Culdrose have 85 players signed on and have said on the Thursday night they can’t get a team so assume it’s going down as a H-W

The CCFA have hired the Wagner Group and the entire staff of Culdrose to protect John Roberts, in case he has to present anything later in the season outside Kellaway Park. It's what we pay League affiliation fees for. Can't have him claiming PTSD, can we ?

Pay weekend. 😂🤣😂🤣

This has been hitting the fans for about thirty years, Kev. The way this league is fixtured, why don't we just change its name to The Helston Old Contemptible's Stitch-Up, sod the football and just go for six pints of Spingo instead ? As ever, the only figure capable of saving local football from this farce is probably the Grim Reaper. Expect he's also been signed on for Culdrose ! Now they've only got one working aircraft carrier, they'll be setting out to deter Putin in a crabber from Porthleven Harbour tomorrow.

Praze 4-0 Wendron 3rds

Shaky in the first 10 minutes for the canaries but after that it was probably one of the best performances of the season, more so defensively. Praze had only 9 first team players available with a lot away/injured, so we called upon Nathan Williams and Mike Vicary from the reserves, and I must say had the game of their lives, absolutely outstanding.
Credit to wendron who played some good football at times, but we were just on the ball with clearing and intercepting everything that came our way.

The referee was very good, Max Davies - he took a lot of stick and the odd verbal abuse and dealt with it well. Wasn’t sure if he forgot to bring his cards though 😂

Huge cup game next week vs Mawnan - who are also on a good form streak. This’ll be an interesting one.

Love the way the Praze chap is praising the referee for how he dealt with “quite a lot of stick and verbal abuse” as if it should be acceptable and just part of the game!

here enlies the problem I’m afraid

That’s the thing, he chose to ignore it. Players and coaching team are always going to be loud and opinionated, it’s just how the games grown into..

Max was a good ref and understood and read the game very well. I’m not ref bashing like some people on this forum do which is half of the problem gone in this instance. Positive vibes only here 👌

Ex-decent player and I’m convinced it’s no coincidence he’s now a decent ref 👍
Just a shame more players that pack up don’t try their hand at reffing before walking away from the game completely

I’m sure he’s played twice this season for St Ives, think he may have scored against us too!

Yes Dave but how long before he does walk away dealing with the abuse week in week out, people praising him for “how he dealt with it” rather than addressing the abuse in the first instance!! It’s like we all just accept that it’s “part of the game” and the best refs are the ones who show more resilience.

Can somebody play for a club then ref against a rival in that league

Yes. It's local grassroots football so sensible to expect that they will eventually referee clubs and players known to them.

One problem for established ex players when taking up the whistle is that they will encounter plenty of people that are on first name terms with whether it be an ex team mate, rival or friend. Some people may worry about favouritism in this situation but usually the opposite is true.
