Division 4

Penryn 1 Pendeen 3

good game of football from both teams Penryn the better team for the first 20 minutes until Pendeen scored 2 quick goals then a red card for the home team just before the break. Second half still a pretty even game Penryn got one back with 15 minutes to then Pendeen got the 3rd goal to kill the game off. A few handbags at the end but all in all a good game to watch from a neutral.
Penryn’s number 16 and Pendeen’s number 2 should definitely be playing a higher standard of football

I kind of thought as much, and don’t doubt the good intentions of such thinking, but surely we’ve all played pre season and late season on summer pitches that are much much harder than frozen.

I’ve had to play in trainers, because even mouldies were to uncomfortable. Are the new plastic pitches not just as hard?

Genuine question..

Why do games get called off due to frozen pitch??

Ground is hard and so considered dangerous

Not so much just to do with how hard ground is (although it is a factor). As well as how hard the ground is, also the fact an icy pitch will be very slippy and be dangerous and farcical. I’d challenge anyone to wear trainers on an icy pitch like you can a baking hot one.

Also, a hard some pitch ends up dusting up, so although hard is usually a bit crumbly, where as a frozen solid pitch certainly isn’t. Adding into any sort of serious injury means lying on a cold surface which in itself presents further problems compared to the summer surfaces.
