Trelawnney 2

Carharrack 3, Goonhavern Res 3

Goonhavern raced into the lead with 2 quick goals in the 2nd and 10th minutes and looked good value for them, despite being adrift at the foot of the table. It was an ill-tempered first half with many tackles flying in and going unpunished (in the absence of VAR!). Tempers flared and at one point the ref halted the game and told the teams to calm down and concentrate on playing football. World Cup it wasn't! A twice-taken pen was scored by a new look Danny Ford, retaken after the linesman saw an encroachment during the first kick. Both kicks were converted and one home player got sin-binned for asking if the score was now 2 - 2 (according to him)! That was in and after the 38th minute. In the 2nd half another pen was awards on 49 mins and Ford made it 2 - 2 for real. He headed his 3rd home from a left-wing cross on 65 but Goonhavern didn't fold: they kept at it and equalised in the 90th minute, a close-range shot off a cross, also from the left wing.

There were up to 5 spectators, including me and the girlfriend of one of the Goonhavern lads. Such devotion to freeze on the touchline for him!

I came away cold and a bit worried: Carharrack seemed to lack one or two players, and the tea hut was closed (so no bacon butty and cuppa). I hope Val is okay.

Not a brilliant afternoon except perhaps for Goonhavern who deserved only their 2nd point of the season.

what a game. Two penalties for storm, two own goals scored by storm and a definite show of Kevin Keegan football.

no major issues from either team with bad fouls or being idiots.

just a good old game of football that definitely resembled a basket ball game with each team constantly attacking

could have been double figures for both teams

cheers to the lads who came back to the pub afterwards

A local derby played in the cold of West Cornwall. Penzance Reserves go five games unbeaten with 3-0 win at local rivals St Buryan.

33 souls decided real football was better to watch than the overpaid prima-donnas of the World Cup

They were treated to almost ninety minutes of one way traffic as Penzance took it to the Saints.

St Buryan were on top for the first couple of minutes and between the 35-40. The rest of the time it was one way. How only three goals were scored is a mystery. The corner count was 14-2 and the shot count thirty plus to four.

The woodwork saved the home side three times along with shooting from long range, plus an awful lot of blocking.

Perranwell home next week who did Pz a favour by drawing 3-3 with Falmouth United today.

Holmans 7 - 1 RNAS Culdrose Reserves

️ Liam Phillips
️ Stevie Knurek
️ Scott Thomas
️ Jake Rowe
️ Leo Kempthorne

starting slowly after a few weeks off- we were off the pace and not able to string 3 passes together and then against the run of play, Marcus ‘Lynford Christie’ Peters bombed down the left flank and put it on a plate for Liam Phillips to control and slot home. 1-0 to the Green Machine. 5 minutes later it was 2-0. A carbon copy of the opening goal. Marcus swinging a delicious ball over form the left flank and Liam Phillips beating the offside trap to slot home again. It wasn’t long before the Goal Machine had his hat trick- the keeper failed to gather a routine through ball and Phillips was there to tap in. Matty ‘Mad Man’ Knurek then momentarily lost his head and gave away a penalty which was cooly slotted away. Phillips then turned provider shortly after for our 4th when he unselfishly squared the ball to Stevie Knurek to slot in at the far post. There was time for one more goal before the half time whistle and it was the best of the bunch. Scotty Thomas picked up a loose ball around 30 yards out and let fly with an absolute rocket which nestled into the bottom corner 🚀. 5-1 to the Greens at half time!

The second half the boys were in cruise control and managed to get two more goals without ever getting out of second gear. The sixth goal came courtesy of a Jake Rowe corner. He whipped it in with pace and the ball eluded everyone and nestled in the back of the net. Anton was adamant it touched him but he was delusional after playing 90 minutes feeling rough as rats. And our last goal came from super sub Leo Julyan ‘Messi’ who found himself in space on the edge of the box- he let fly and the ball zipped past the goal keeper with the help of a deflection. A big 3 points moved us up to 3rd 🥳

Man of the match: Marcus Peters 🏆
