Friday 4th November

Mousesole Devs (0) 3 - 2 (1) St Day

Lovely night for football at Trungle where home side welcomed top of the table St Day. First half started pretty cautiously as you’d expect, Mousehole having fair bit of the ball and playing it around nice without causing the experienced St Day defence any real trouble. St Day played slightly more direct football and it caused Mousehole some problems but largely it was dealt with by Barnicoat in the air and Trevains on the floor. Anything in the way of a corner or free kick to St Day looks dangerous due to the size advantage and it was from a well worked corner they got their opening goal. 0-1 HT

second half Mousehole came out fired up and caused St Day problems but St Day we’re always dangerous and both keepers made saves to keep score at 0-1. Finally with about 25 minutes remaining Mouseholes pressure paid off, few shots were blocked and saved and the ball finally dropped to Hurrell just inside the box and he finished smartly with his weaker foot. Mousehole now fired up they kept pressing, Mousehole management brought on under 16 youngster Hayden Black and within 5 minutes he made it 2-1 with a composed finish into to top corner, not bad for your home debut 👏.  A tired challenge not long after from behind led to a pen for Ferguson to make it 3-1 and an unfortunate handball the other end made it 3-2 for a nervy ending but Mousehole hung on for the win.

Game played in good spirit on good pitch in front of half decent crowd, good luck to St Day for the season. 👍

accurate report, really good turn out n'all

i thought the officials had a pretty good game too,

i can see why st day didnt want to sub their number 9 off despite a decent sized cut on his head. he put in a good shift and always looked a threat

Illogan RBL 2, Truro City Reserves 0

Absolute nail-biter to the end. Most people I spoke to thought it was "a rather feisty game" - which it was, tackles flying in, both sides keen to win. Illegal might have won more convincingly bu wasted several good chances with wild shooting or 50p coin-shaped heading! The opener on 16 was a lovely cross-shot from outside the box in the left channel (inside-left for older viewers) which swept into the top right corner. I thought the 'keeper actually got his fingertips to it. Then it was nip and tuck all the way with both sides missing chances, though Illogan missed more. With 15 to go Illogan were sitting back too much, allowing Truro to mount attack after attack. At one stage for a corner they held four players back to cover Truro's lone striker. Bit negative and risky. However, to their obvious relief, Bachelor scored a world on 88. A free-kick on the right almost like a corner was punched clear to where Bachelor stood outside the box and he did the right thing: put his boot through it. Might have cleared the clubhouse, might have cannoned off another player in the crowded goal area; but it almost broke the net, for the goal that settled it.

Brilliant game for the neutral and Illogan fans; disappointing for Truro. Good thirty bob's worth for us pensioners. Hot choc the standard £1. Nice view from the stand, nice to see some familiar Illogan faces - but where have all those Truro fans gone? They don't go to Parkway.

Thought I would see some familiar faces from Trey Road days but didn't. Can't see how the first team will last. They must be being subsidised by the Pirates. I can't see them putting up with that much longer. Anymore glitches with the ridiculous Stadium for Cornwall farce and this young Reserve side will become Truro City's one and only team. IMHO.

Enjoyed the game watching as a neutral - the pitch seemed to hold up well after all the rain -  I thought that Truro competed well but felt that they lost their cohesion a bit in the second half - the sin bins didn’t help of course - Illogan looked pretty solid right through the game and felt that they deserved their win

St.Austell Res 2 Polperro 3.

St.Austell led 2 - 1 mid way through the second period, but couldn't hold on to their lead.

Having made it 2 - 2, Polperro won the game with what seemingly looked like an own goal, given by Referee Gary Cornish, only for the St.Austell Certificated linesman to raise his flag for an infringement in the scramble, after a brief chat Gary Cornish stucked to his original decision and awarded the goal.

A decent game to watch much better entertainment than the week before.
