Division One

Falmouth United 2-2 Penzance Reserves

Att- 18

The Falmouth manager must have told his lads at half time, keep playing the way you are. 2-1 up, hitting the bar and post, your opponents on the back foot. It looked a given three points.

But at the other end the Penzance gaffa must have said, wait 20 to soak up any pressure and then play your passing game and we will see if we get anything out of this. So they did, Falmouth looked a different side in the second period with the visitors being on top most of the 45 but lacked the final touch.

Then on 90+3 Penzance equalised. Their first draw since 10/10/20.

Thank you to today's referee, Lee-Anthony Lee. Second time this season I have seen him and today controlled the game well as second half there were quiet a few silly tackles as the game sped up. One yellow produced to a player who took one for his side. Both sets of players accepted the refs decisions, no getting on to him, etc, great to see and increased the enjoyment of the game.

Dropship FC 3-1 Lanner
T Prescott 17' 🅰 G Gaylard
L Jarvis 26' 🅰 L Chinn
H Hounsome 49' 🅰 D Bartlam

On a late October Saturday afternoon, the Dropship galleon continued to sail onward towards the Golden Fleece that is, the Trelawny league title. Following a victorious battle last week in the county cup, the lads were ready for the visit of Lanner.

First Half

As expected by Bezza and Jack, the away team came out all guns blazing and made it hard for Dropship. They got stuck in and with direct balls to their forwards, the Dropship defence, without central player Craig Donlevy, had to be on their toes. With ever dependable Matt Quick in goal, and a back three of returning Hounsome, Miller and a first start for Finley Thomson, they were ready.

After soaking up initial pressure the lads applied some pressure of their own.

Menacing Ben Kellow had a stretching headed effort at the back post but just couldn't get behind it enough, following Webby beating his opposite number on the left and whipping in a beautiful cross.

Sandy had a shot off but just wide of keepers right post after good work from Webby turning inside two men and feeding him.

But the first goal of the game went to the visitors and probably against the run of play.

GOAL!!! DROPSHIP FC 0-1 Lanner
On 14 min a well taken free kick gave Quicky no chance as it crept inside the post.

The lads reacted well to something that hadn't happened much recently, going behind, and pushed forward straight on the tip off. It wasn't long before it was level pegging.

GOAL!!! DROPSHIP FC 1-1 Lanner
Dropship equaliser on 17 mins. What a goal! Tyler Prescott the scorer with a powerful right footed finish past the outstretched keepers diving right arm and into the side netting. Prescott received the ball on the right wing from Gaylard, then proceeded to turn the defender inside-out before unleashing a quality angled strike from the right, across the keeper. Game on!

The home team now settled into the game and tried to play their signature passing football and enjoyed plenty of possession, creating some chances but not really troubling the Lanner defence.

GOAL!!! DROPSHIP FC 2-1 Lanner
After 26 mins it became two, the energetic Liam Jarvis rising highest to head home a Liam Chinn free kick past the keeper to give Dropship a 2-1 lead.

The rest of the half saw Dropship continue to pile forward with Lanner holding firm and hitting on the counter. Notable efforts from Gaylard, Sandy, Hounsome and Kellow keeping the Lanner defence busy.

HALF-TIME - DROPSHIP FC 2-1 Lanner

Second Half

46 mins - Substitutes for Dropship - Carl Ferris and first appearance of the season for Dave Bartlam, came on for George and Sandy.

Dropship wasted little time in getting forward as the second half began and within a few minutes scored their third.

GOAL!!! DROPSHIP FC 3-1 Lanner
Harry Hounsome marking his return with a headed goal straight from a Dave Bartlam corner on 49 mins.

Bartlam on his season debut got on plenty of ball and found himself on the end of a couple of 'fruity' challenges in the early stages of second half. As was Liam Chinn, but the referee refused to get his yellow card out.

On 57 mins Quicky had to be on his toes in goal and he was, as he dived low to his left post to keep a good Lanner effort out.

60 mins - Substitute for Dropship - Mason Taylor on for Webby

With a two-goal cushion and confidence up, Dropship kept pushing on and created many half chances, one being a seemingly fine goal for Ben Kellow but disallowed for 'alleged' offside.

As the game entered its final stages Kellow had another effort saved by the keeper with the faintest of touches stopping a certain goal.

FULL TIME - DROPSHIP FC 3-1 Lanner

Another win for the lads and another three points to keep us at the summit of the league table.

Once again, a massive shout out to everyone for their support today, there were over 50 watching today with the majority being Dropship supporters, and again was heartwarming to the see the future shipmates watching on.

Next week sees another home game vs Frogpool & Cusgarne, we look forward to seeing you all again then.

Storm 4 - 2 Mullion 3rds

Good performance today from us again, but this time finally on the winning side after some unlucky performances in the league recently to lift us off the bottom of the table.

Felt deserved as well, snatched at a few chances in the 1st half bit we relaxed and started to play some good football, first hattrick of the season from Colin Manley, and a penalty from Connor Trevena sealed the points. Well officiated by Dan Bennetts as well.

Thanks to Mullion for the game and for coming back to the pub after, 3 good games this season against them.

Week off next week before we return home against Wendron 5ths.

DIVISION 3

St Keverne 5-0 St Ives Mariners

Game played in great spirits & very competitive for 55 minutes, with the home side scoring 4 2nd half goals in 15 minutes, to take the match away from.the visitors.

Would also like to compliment the referee, 16 year old SCOTT COUTTS. He was excellent throughout. Spoke with the players, explained his decision. Could have a very good future
