Match report please Le Boss or Silly Billy .ย ๐Ÿ˜œ

Jack's had a haircut, the tannoy system is the worst in the league, 30 minute wait if you wanted a burger luckily I didn't and at least 9 spectators nearly slipped over with 3ย  not so lucky who hit the deck with a splat on that slippery grass above the stepped banking area to the carpark end sheltered spectator viewing area. Luckily no one was seriously injured and a couple of kind f troop ladies helped one of the gents back to his feet. This needs sorting soon, yes I know it was wet but it's dangerous.ย

Anyway was an enjoyable game to watch as a neutral ๐Ÿ‘

The first goal was a dubious penalty which Jack put away nicely. Several stoppages, think the ref handled it quite good. Falmouth did well to hold on to the lead despite the pressure they were under from Helston's constant attacks in the second half.ย

When you get your head out of the clouds what's going to happen about that dangerous bank? Cordone it off like the other bit maybe?

Got to agree to a certain extent. The kitchen is far too small and more importantly slow for many to even bother using it. The club are missing out on lots of money. It is true the walkways are dangerous and I know it was wet but a lawsuit is just around the corner. Tannoy is awful.ย

What about the game?

Entertaining game, Falmouth started the better, drew the penalty and then scored a good second. Helston couldnโ€™t deal with the direct football and looked shell shocked. Slowly the storm was weathered and without testing the home keeper had a lot of possession. Controversial incident led to the Helston goal - clear free kick but what happened next was mystifying. Maybe a deliberate elbow caused hands raised which should have been two reds. Two yellows given. From the free kick Helston scored with the defensive wall in the wrong place. Momentum change and Falmouth looked out on their feet except for breakaways but for all of Helstonโ€™s possession their final ball was very poor and the home keeper didnโ€™t have a save to make. All about goals scored but really easy to see the shortcomings of both sides. Best of luck in the next round.ย

Maybe the ref gave a yellow and let the game continue at competitive nature rather then ruining it and giving out reds.ย
good win for Falmouth by the sounds of it and helston going through a difficult patch.ย

Surely ruining a game should not dictate the laws of the game. Any win is a good win and Helston will be fine.ย

Matt was at his best mates wedding and Dan Harrisonโ€™s wife has just been given some really really good medical news and theyโ€™ve gone away to celebrate Iโ€™m told. Puts football and all our bitching into perspective I think. Best of luck in the next round.ย

Just referee the game according to the laws and not the occasion.ย

Good summary of the game. Falmouth started really well and Helson couldn't get close to them for the first 20 minutes.ย  By then it was 1-0. Helston then started getting some meaningful possession when Falmouth started to give the ball away cheaply. Slightly against the run of the play, Falmouth scored their 2nd with Ollie Walker racing down the left wing and swinging in a perfect cross which was met on the volley by Luke Brabyn who lashed it into the net from about 10 yards in front of a jubilant F-Troop.

Didn't see the incident that lead to the free kick that provided Helston's goal, but by all accounts the Falmouth player was lucky to stay on the pitch.ย  2-1 going in to half-time.

The 2nd half belonged to Helston in the main as again Falmouth struggled to retain possession.ย  It has been a struggle to close out games for Falmouth this season, especially against Helston, and it looked like they were nervous about making the mistake that would let their opponents back into the game. With the exception of the excellent James Ward, Town too often just lashed the ball away when they had the time to get the ball down and play through the midfield.ย  Sure that as they adapt to the league and start winning regularly, then this will improve.

Despite having the ball for most of the 2nd half, Helston didn't really trouble Ryan Barnes in the home goal.ย  When Falmouth did get the ball they looked fairly dangerous.ย  It was pretty much panic stations every time Ollie Walker got the chance to run at the opposing full back.ย  Town should have put the game to bed with about 10 to go when a ball played straight through the Helston defence was latched on to by Luke Barner who carried it past Cory Harvey in the Helston goal but couldn't get enough power in his shot and Harvey made an excellent save.ย  A few minutes before that, the ball was centred to JBE in the 6 yard box but he took an extra touch before shooting and Harvey saved low to his left.

Credit to Steve Massey who endured a few less than friendly chants from the F-Troop but still came into the club after, even though he must have been very disappointed with what happened.

Not sure what happened to Matt Cusack today but he wasn't there and Mr Massey took his place in the technical area during the game.

Hope Josh Storey is OK after he came off the bench in the 2nd half only to have to go back off again with an injury.ย  Hope he is not out for too long again.

Another home tie in the next round please against anyone but Mousehole.

Nice to read a balanced opinion. Falmouth are a different beast with Ward playing but it helps when everything goes down his throat. JBE doesnโ€™t look fit if Iโ€™m honest but still looks a decent prospect. Good luck in the next round ย
