St Day Reserves 0-3 Penzance Reserves

Att- 12

Have St Day got a box of 16 year old keepers that they take from every time Penzance play them? The lad today was superb, keeping his team in the hunt and the score to a low level.

In my notes I had him down as making nine great saves or grabs leaving the Magpies with a 25% on target score rate.

At the other end, the Pz keeper didn't have much to do apart one block towards the end as St Day came out to find a conselation strike.

St Day started each half with a rush but it soon settled down with Pz having the best and most of it.

New inn 3 perranwell 2

With Robbie penfold facing a lay off, both  Barry penfold and Ryan baber nursing injuries  the titans were hoping for a decent start and hopefully an easy game, niether came. Perran looked organized and set out to frustrate and it does had to be said caused titans all kinds of problems on the break but with that being said the titans didn't half contribute to their own problems.

Nico penfold had won a tackle In the middle of the park and wasn't backed up the ball dropped to a perran player who whipped a great effort over keeper leigh Isaacs, no chance. 1-0.

Titans behind yet again early doors and with the perran back line dominating the titans front 3 early, not allowing Jones on the ball, ward the space or time to do his thing, perrans midfield were pretty strong too, it was something the titans needed to address and quickly, the titans love a challenge though and dug In, played well at times even if for the sake of keeping the ball without really hurting the away side but from a long throw via matt Woodward the ball found its way to Michael Catterall on the swivel bottom corner, 1-1 game on.

Titans continued to try to get things flowing but it was one of those days it seemed, a constant threat from the away side of the long ball over the top kept the titans back 4 honest, Isaacs seen something that needed changing and brought on Ralph pascoe and shuffled the back 4 across. 1-1 half time.

Jack pacey was the outstanding titan today, a little hurried at times with the final product but his work rate, constant threat in behind, on the ball kept the titans on the front foot, from 1 of these runs he brought down on the edge of the box and up stepped josh symons with the trusty left foot to bend 1 inside the keepers near stick, 2-1 titans

What they needed now was sure footing, however at times titans have a way of shooting themselves In the foot from their own long throw which must be said is a weapon for the titans and they almost scored from this one but the ref had spotted something 🙄 a quick free kick and with pascoe outta position having taken the throw, communication lacked and from a switch ball that caught out the titans who had overloaded trying to kill the game saw josh symons with all he could to reach the ball to stop a sure tap in to divert it goal bound left leigh Isaacs scrambling to keep it out only for it to drop to the perran front man for a tap in. 2-2

Baber was struggling and hadn't had a great game shaun Isaacs on for him.

"If I'm any deeper, then may aswell be a back 5" shouted Isaacs. After a long throw from Pascoe caused havoc for the stubborn perranwell defence and The bull Jones tucked away the winner.

A very hard fought game, and perranwell were very stubborn and caused some issues for Titans. A great game for the spectator, but titans hold on again and, get the 3 points and top the league.

38 year old balding catterall gets man of the match. Great work rate.

Onto the junior cup fixture next week.

Up the titans

Get in there ma chavvvyyy
