Gunnislake Res 1 GSM UTD 3

Another long trip for an away day but GSM remained unbeaten for the season.

GSM had a couple of early chances. Aaron Moyes and Jordan Rogers seeing shots blocked by defenders and Jason Busby firing straight at the keeper. Gunnislake took the lead with their first attack. A long ball down their left allowed them to get in behind the GSM defence before the ball was crossed for a tap in from 6 yards out. GSM levelled within 3 minutes, when they put pressure on the Gunnislake defence as they tried to play out from a goal kick. Jason Busby winning the ball before Hayden Cawrse put the ball in to the net. Both sides created chances but were unable to add to the scoresheet and the sides went in level at the break.

Second half and both sides again created chances without troubling the scoresheet. Gunnislake lost their keeper to injury on 60 mins and the stand-in pulled off an outstanding one handed save shortly after from a fierce Jason Busby strike. 64 mins a GSM corner was headed clear to Alex Pearce, 35 yards out, who steadied himself before striking an unstoppable volley into the top corner. 70 mins and GSM went further clear when Jason Busby won the ball in midfield before sliding the ball through to Jordan Rogers to run in behind the defence to finish. GSM had chances to increase their lead but were unable to make their dominance count.

Big thanks to referee Barry Bottrill, who had an outstanding game. Have to say, one the best refereeing displays we have seen in a long time, and both sets of linos. Good luck to Gunnislake for the rest of the season.
