League Cup First Round.

Penzance Reserves 2-3 New Inn Titans

Att- 58

Why did they play the final today instead of the end of the season?

This game had it all, going in at 0-0 half time both sides had cancelled each other out.

Second half sprung to life on 52min with Pz taking the lead and then adding a second on 64.

Players going down like nine pins, some handbags from spectators who went to help an injured player. More delays, more time for the ref to add on.

Goal pulled back on 69. Could Pz hold on. Time passing, jitters showing. More injuries.

Game moves into added time. Great saves by New Inn keeper.

90+10mins and New Inn draw level. Going into extra more time? More players down.

90+14 and New Inn go into the lead. Excuse for wild celebrations.

We play on, Pz can't break through.

90+20mins ref blows for full time. A first round final. Hell of a game.

Good fired up cup tie end to end stuff big performance today from new inn after having quite alot of players unavailable and 2 pulling out late on...resulting in our manager having to play 90mins and a couple other players in late 30s being on pitch alot longer than usual...penzance looked good on the ball we dug deep today with alot of tired legs to snatch a victory penzance had the luxury of having a couple first team dropping down like Robertas...who is a quality player good crowd supporting penzance knocking back alot of pints in the stands...big shout out to new inn keeper leigh Isaacs who made a world class save at 2-1 down if that went in definitely would of secured a penzance win.. goodluck to penzance see u for the return league fixture 👍

Storm 1 - 3 st just reserves

a game well battled today at poole school

home team denied a blatant penalty when 2-0 down by the best save I’ve ever seen from a defender.

st just denied a penalty at the other end by our keeper rushing out and clattering the attacker, thank god the decisions where evened out.

storm hit the bar and the post and st just keeper pulled off some great saves to deny us points

a draw would have been a fair result but it wasn’t meant to be

onwards to pendeen away next week for storm

good look st just for the season

Wendron 5th  2-7  Pendeen Rovers Reserves

Att: 3

A windy Saturday afternoon on Rame hill was the setting for the Reserves debut league outing, the first half seen us playing into a very
strong gusting wind but through perseverance and moments of quality we found ourselves 2-3 to the good at half time. Second half playing with the wind allowed us to push a higher line which inevitably created more chances, the midfield starting to find holes and space which started causing problems for Wendron in numerous areas, too many standout performances to mention as it really was a dominant team display from the Reserves who will now look forward to their next test against Storm. Many thanks to Wendron for providing welcoming hospitality after.

Goals from:
Toby Angwin x3
Leon Dixon x2
Rory Courtney x2

A divided opinion on Man of the match so it’s a shared affair between Sam McKenna for a defensive masterclass and Rory Courtney who capped off an ice cold midfield lesson with 2 goals.

Russell Hall Cup 2023
Constantine Recreation Ground, Constantine
Att: 35

Constantine 0-7 Dropship FC
                        Liam Jarvis 11’ 78’
                        David Webb 26’
                        Ben Kellow 28’
                        Tyler Prescott 45’ 86’
                        Paul Robertson 74’

Back to Constantine on Saturday, but this time in the Russell Hall Cup which Dropship currently hold. Bezza, Jack and the lads were keen to keep their 100% unbeaten RH Cup run going. The rain stayed away but a stiff breeze blew from right to left as one gazes from the dressing rooms side.

First Half

After a bit of a slumber-some first five minutes, the lads settled down. They tried to get into their rhythm of passing and moving, holding possession, having patience and creating chances.

A few chances came the way of Dropship, one a vicious left footed shot from edge of box which got touched wide by a Constantine defender for a corner, Dropship clocked up three in quick succession. They were well delivered by Mossy first, and then Robertson, considering the wind blowing but failed to create an opportunity, but it kept Constantine on their toes.

Ben Kellow was found in space on the right a few times where each time a cross was delivered but again, nobody on the end.

 GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-1 DROPSHIP
On 11 mins it was 1-0 Dropship. New dad, Tyler Prescott with more good work to create the chance for Liam Jarvis who struck for his first of the game.

Liam Chinn had a couple of free kicks from the right, whipped beautifully into the box but dealt with by under the cosh Constantine defenders.

The Constantine defence was diced up with short fast interplay down the middle, culminating in a Liam Chinn thru ball a shade too hard, to Prescott who stretched to hit it just wide.

 GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-2 DROPSHIP
After 26 mins a powerful strike from Webby ricocheted in off the butt of the post, keeper didn’t see it 👀

GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-3 DROPSHIP
Who else but another Ben Kellow goal after 28 mins, the ever busy Webby with the assist.

Dropship continued to turn the screw as a Tyler Prescott overhead kick went just over the bar after great work by Gaylard and Kellow on the right.

A Ben Kellow blistering left footed shot got caught in the wind and drifted wide of the left post.

GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-4 DROPSHIP
On 45 mins it became four. Tyler Prescott on the stroke of half time after Liam Chinn won a drop-ball on the halfway line and poked the ball thru to the onrushing Prescott, who sprinted past two defenders to get a one-on-one with the keeper, no mistake with the finish.

HALF-TIME CONSTANTINE 0-4 DROPSHIP FC

Second Half

Bezza made a couple of changes at the interval. New boy Ryan Beer on for George Gaylard, and Harry Perry up from reserves on for Carl Ferris.

Second half continued as the first ended, more Dropship pressure. Kellow, Prescott x2 chances, and Jarvo bombing thru the middle creating openings.

A sublime Robbo backheel flick put Prescott thru, but the keeper made a super stop to keep the big man out for his brace.

On 66 mins Dropship were awarded a penalty when Tyler Prescott was taken down in the box after rounding two defenders. Liam Chinn took the resulting penalty but was saved by keeper.

GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-5 DROPSHIP
On 74 mins Dropship scored their fifth. A Robbo goal, drifted into the box unmarked and finished a tap in from 3 yards, following a right wing cross from Liam Chinn.

GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-6 DROPSHIP
On 78 mins Liam Jarvis hit his second goal, a pivot turn in the box and a right footed finish to the bottom corner of the helpless keepers right post, Ben Kellow assist.

GOAL!!! CONSTANTINE 0-7 DROPSHIP
After 86 mins Tyler Prescott wrapped up the win with an emphatic volleyed finish from 6 yards, Ben Kellow chipped assist. Two for Prescott and closed out a good day for the new daddy!

One final scare for Dropship as Constantine almost got onto a thru ball but the quiet Matthew Quick in goal read the danger well, sprinted from his box, got a nosebleed from the G-forces and screwed a clearance 90 degrees to hit the touchline. Bearing in mind he had a strong breeze behind him, it was some feat!! He’ll be happy with his clean sheet though.

FULL-TIME CONSTANTINE 0-7 DROPSHIP FC

Into the next round of the league cup where we await the draw to see who we face. Another good day at the office, with some big games to come over the next few weeks.
