Dropship 2

New inn titans 1

Dropship winners, 2 efforts 2 goals.

New inn titans dominated most the game. 75% possibly?
Woodwork 4 times denying goals.

Some acting from a couple of the dropship players would of picked up awards at the BAFTAs, but in the end 2 goals to 1 is the reason they’re through.

I thought the official, didn’t do much wrong just lacked a little consistency in decision making. Seemed to be one rule one way and another when a exact duplicate incident happened.

Good luck to Dropship in the next round after all the commotion in the week, Of desperation to changing venues and referees 24 hours prior to kick off.

CSOM 3 - 1 Storm FC

Despite losing, and a biblical rain shower in the 1st half it was a really good performance by us against a much younger and fitter CSOM team.  2 quick goals at the start of the 2nd half put us on the back foot, a twice taken penalty pulled one back, but fitness showed and they tucked away a 3rd.  Really well officiated, and the game was played in great spirits. Finished the last 10 mins with 10 men after picking up 4 injuries through the game but hopefully not too serious. Final shout out to our keeper who pulled off save after save in the second half.

Good bunch of lads at CSOM and good luck in the next round.

Mate I’ll just add you had the pitch notification 5 days ago in line with league rules and I explained why we were on the 3G and we have no control over what refs are appointed.

Thanks for a cracking game and all the best for the rest of the season mate.

Catch up soon

Interesting result in the east of the county:-  Grampound 2-0 Southgate Seniors   (HT 0-0)

Grampound top of Duchy Div 2 with only one goal now conceded in 7 competitive games and Southgate top of the Premier Division.  Grampound had to defend well in the second half after an even first half but were fairly comfortable in keeping a clean sheet in a hard but sporting game.

Good luck to Southgate in their quest for the Duchy Premier championship.

It may be location. Originally meant to be Cury but changed to Camborne so that might explain it.

We have no say on referees.

My post says it all.

You converted the 2 chances, we didn't.

Referee lacked consistency to me. Duplicate incidents for both sides. One a yellow one not

Mevva 2 losty 1

gutted absolutely gutted! 1-0 up going into the last 10 a tight offside call with a good finish and a mevva player throwing himself to the floor and screaming for a penalty which bill almost got to was the difference. Losty battled well and took a chance but we couldn’t grab the 2nd goal. Some fantastic defending at times and some good moments of quality but it wasn’t to be. Good luck to mevva for the rest of their campaign

Week St Mary 5 St Dominic 8

Hard to report on this game, both defences were poor first half. Some great finishing from Kieran Jasper 5 and Adam Snowdon 3, was the real difference. Thanks to hosts for hosting us, in wicked weather conditions, and also a shout out to the referee who was superb throughout, it’s a shame there aren’t more like him that let the game flow.

GSM 3 St Mawgan Res 2 (Moyses 55, Busby 62, Andrew 75) a scrappy game that could have gone either way, but GSM just about prevailed. Going behind to an own goal early on and then missing a penalty in the first half. GSM came back in the second half, with goals from Moyses and a Busby penalty which resulted in the sending off of the St Mawgan keeper. St Mawgan struck back before Andrew sealed the win for GSM. St Mawgan almost forced extra time but for a great reflect save in the dying minutes.

St Buryan 0 Probus 7 (Ethan Gatley 3, Jamie Bilkey 3, Alex Hassell)

It was nice to be back involved with the team for only my second match of the season and we deservedly led 2-0 at half-time. Alex Hassell opened the scoring after 30 minutes with an excellent left footed finish into the top corner and Jamie Bilkey doubled the lead 5 minutes before the break. We could have been 3-0 up before half-time when Ethan Gatley hit the bar, but the ball immediately went up the other end and Buryan hit the bar themselves. That could have been a big moment in the game, but we were grateful to be 2-0 at the interval.

We started slowly in the second half but we gradually picked up the tempo and scored 5 unanswered goals - Ethan Gatley got a second half hat-trick and Jamie Bilkey added 2 more to complete his own treble.

We deserved the win and probably could have scored more, but the Buryan keeper had a good game and we missed several chances (including our captain Luke Gaye putting the ball over the bar from about a yard out 😂). St Buryan were a nice bunch of lads and the game was played in good spirits. I didn’t expect to see Bobby-Lee Johns playing for Buryan but he’s moved down there now! The referee was excellent (sorry I don’t know his name), letting the game flow and playing the advantage as much as he could. Thanks to St Buryan for their hospitality and good luck to them for the rest of the season. Looking forward to the next round draw to see where we’re off next!

Sure there was a request of official change, didn’t say dropship chose him Pete

No request to change official, it was originally scheduled to be at Dracena I believe and when the game changed location the referee had to change as he couldn’t make it to Camborne.

For the record, the second appointed official has no link to Dropship FC and there was no request for a change.

Agreed, referee was very good. Crazy game. Doms 2-0 up within 3 mins. WSM claw back to 2-2 and in the ascendancy but don’t take their chances. Doms go up the other end and lead 4-2, only for WSM score twice in first half injury time, 4-4 HT.

Doms straight back in the lead with a pen and add three further strikes from distance. WSM could only reply once.

So much time and space for both sides but very entertaining, best of luck to St Dom in the next round.

Goonhavern Res 1-4 Pendeen Res

Att: 15

The Reserves arrived at a lush looking Reen Manor for they’re 2nd round clash with Goonhavern who sit two leagues above us.

With periods of torrential rain and a menacing swirling wind the conditions were certainly going to affect periods of this game, after a scrappy opening 10 minutes our boys started to get control of the game, passing through the lines creating 3/4 good chances bringing the home keeper into action, a corner was forced and taken by Toby Angwin who plated up an easy goal for the ascending Sam McKenna.

More waves of attack resulted in a free kick 20 yards out which was clinically dispatched by Leon Dixon, 0-2 at half time. Second half started with more dominant possession with chance after chance being created, unfortunately we’d left our finishing boots at home..all that is apart from the effervescent centre half Sam to smash home once again from close range from a corner. Goonhaven had to come at us now and were awarded a soft free kick on the edge of our box which was hit home in the slippery conditions under the despairing dive of Mark Strick. Game was put to bed 7 minutes from time by the offensive full back George Steadman who controlled well in the box and smashed home in the bottom corner. Despite the conditions we managed,at times,to play some decent football plus was a bonus to have our injured players return and come out unscathed. By far not our best performance and so much more to come but onwards and upwards for the next round, wonder who we’ll be drawn against next…
Some tireless performances today, notably zac Morris for his work rate but MOTM today goes to Mr McKenna, solid at the back plus contributing with a brace. 👏👏

Thankyou to Goonhavern for they’re hospitality.
C’mon the deen 🖤💛🖤💛

Dropship FC (1) 2 - 1 (0) New Inn Titans

Junior Cup Saturday 22/10/2022

Cornwall College 3G Pitch

Well this was regarded as one of the ties of the weekend on the football forum, and I dont think it disappointed with Dropship FC Causing a Major upset here.

Giving New Inn Titans their 4th only defeat in 2 seasons. With 3 of these defeats coming in cup competition and only 1 in League format.

Now the game had a lot of hype throughout the week with the teams both being local, and going for trophy laden seasons. Wayne Berry of Dropship had rallied together a decent squad, over the last couple of seasons. And this tie was mouth watering as a player and a spectator.

Saturday came around and Both teams were out on the Artificial Turf, warming up. Shaun and Newly assigned assistant "Mushy" Symons were out putting the boys through their paces Pre match.

Boz and the boys donning the traditional Yellow and Black of Titans were definitely up for this one.

Kick off Approached, Shaunny had given his team talk before hand and the boys lined up.

*Whistle blows* First half is underway -

Titans got the ball down and started to try and play some football but couldn't get into gear straight away, but had alot of joy spraying the ball out wide to the Energetic Jack Pacy, who had his full back twisting and turning like hell. Couple of Dangerous Balls into the Dropship box caused the Keeper to scurry across his line and Produce some decent saves, and the Woodwork, kept Titans off the scoresheet.

Number 11, for Dropship kept picking up Pockets of space and this caused issues for Titans when against the run of play, from a Dropship Corner, the ball cleared out and picked up just outside the Area, and a bit of tidy football, created space for Number 11 to get a yard in the box and slot home past Ben Penna in goal for New Inn. (Paul Robertson 22min)

Now this got New Inn going, and they piled some pressure into the Dropship box, which again caused saves from the keeper and the woodwork held strong being struck a couple of times.

Chris ward unfortunately talk a fall, avoiding a good tackle and Disclocated his knee it looked like so had to come off around the half hour mark.

Referee had a few Incidents to contend with, with some rather interesting play acting from Dropships Captain, and Keeper, who kept getting caught in the Mysteriously High gusts of wind that was strong enough to blow over 14st plus men. Dangerous conditions. Few inconsistent decisions left Players frustrated, when bookings were dished out one way, but when the exact same Incident would happen, nothing shown nor a talking too.

Half time comes and Dropship delighted to be going in 1-0.

Second half -

Shaun and Mushy would of read the boys some telling words and New Inn Came out second half totally different all together and Stepped up the gas. Playing some Lovely Triangle Football and interchanging on the wings, and had Dropship Pinned back, for Majority of the second half, Nico Penfold and Baber in the middle dominating and being helped by Veteran Michael Catterall. Dropship were forced to change it up eventually and with Titans creating chances and again hitting the Woodwork again a couple of times, it really wasn't happening at all for them today. Then on the 72nd a counter attack after a New Inn Chance, gave Prescott who hadn't really done anything productive until now, got a sniff of the goal and put it past the oncoming Ben Penna in goal and made it 2-0.

This made New Inn start to chase the game and with 10 to go, They were awarded a Penalty and Even with the Keeper trying his best with a Little bottle trick, it didn't put the ever calm Johnny Jones off and he Slotted it home with Ease.

Even with the final push and pressure New Inn Just couldn't find the Equalizer. And Dropship held on for one of their hardest victories in a Few Seasons.

Well done to The Dropship FC boys and good luck in the hat for the next round.

All the best from New Inn Titans FC

Lanivet Firsts 0 - 6 Holmans

Goals:
Liam Phillips 3
Ross Williams 2
Scott Thomas

After a motivational speech from stand in manager Nathan Ivey, the boys started on the front foot and got stuck into opposition with some crunching tackles from the Knurek brothers. The first goal came after a deft through ball from tricky winger Kerry Grasso and Liam Phillips was there to nod the ball past the oncoming keeper. 1-0 to the greens. Our second came shortly after when some great wing play from Ross Williams resulted in a ball across the box and Liam Phillips was there to flick the ball through the keeper’s legs. 2-0.

Half time
Lanivet Firsts 0 - 2 Holmans

The boys kept up the pressure in the second half and were rewards after a sublime free kick from Ross Williams. From about 25 yards out, he curled it around the wall and in to the top bins. The fourth goal came shortly afterwards when Reece Prout was brought down in the box and Liam Phillips slotted home to make it a hat trick. The boys kept up the pressure and a fifth goal came from Ross Williams. After a nice cut back from the right flank, Rossi expertly converted with a calm side-footed finish. Our last goal came from Scott Thomas who rifled home from close range after a corner fortuitously dropped at his feet.

A top performance for all the lads but special mention to today’s man of the match: Liam Phillips 🥳

Next round here we come
