St Dennis res 0 - 6 Torpoint thirds

R Esterbrook, E Clarke, J payn

subs: J carter, W ferguson, K Webb

A rainy Wednesday midweek game under lights, perfect football conditions IMO and during the first 20 mins we looked comfortable in possession and dangerous going forward through josh payn and ryan Esterbrook although just lacking that final ball or finish to take us into the lead. This wasn’t the same game we had played at Dennis nearly a month or so ago by being ahead by some way at HT, The home side clearly up for the fight with some strong tackles and great battling throughout that would at times hamper us from playing at our usual fast tempo football.  Around 30mins a ball in from wide found Ed Clarke in the box and with a tidy spin and finish the ball found the top corner to make it 0-1 and well deserved. Normally this would have kicked us on but in fact the exact opposite happened and we were very sloppy for the last 10/15mins and st Dennis would probably feel aggrieved not to be level from a mix up between Keeper westall and a point CB when the ball dropped inside the box waiting to be slotted into the open goal but the Dennis player missed the target altogether. HT 0-1

team talk was positive and self explanatory, abit more quality infront of goal and the games finished. the first of 5 goals in the second period came from ry esterbrook after some great work by Ed Clarke 0-2. St Dennis we’re reduced to 10 men for 10 mins for a sin bin (no idea why, didn’t see it tbf) then The favour was duly returned by ry as his miss hit shot found ed inside the 6 yard box to tap in his second of the night. (Definitely a shot and not a cross) 0-3. The hat trick was completed by ed as he got his third and our 4th of the night in similar style to his first, a great composed finish into the top corner following a ball from young Aidan bark who also had a very good game at RB 0-4 a Great performance from the just turned 16 year old but gaffa greenham had seen enough and he was dragged (harsh) The 5th goal came on the 80th min mark from some good wide play from sub Will furgz twisting and turning before finishing well, this was about the same time as st Dennis were reduced to 10 men indefinitely when a player decided to call the ref a C***? don’t think a single other person in the ground disagreed with that and at 5-0 down it was absolutely baffling. Final goal of the game and his second of the night came from Will furgz again following perfect build up play from sub K Webb and Aidan bark yet again who’s overlapping runs caused the home side problems throughout the 90.

A tasty game that resulted in yellows for both sides, the red card and a sin bin which I’m sure was a great watch from the stands. Into the next round of the cup which was always the aim as defending champions. All the best to st Dennis again and thanks for the great hospitality as always, great ground and facilities. Newquay away for us this coming Saturday and with that some welcome returns to the squad including skipper Chris westall who missed out on tonight’s game due to an ingrown hair being infected, Aidan northcott who  injured his vagina two weeks ago and Chris Bart’s who’s been busy making pasties.

Lastly, Lovely to see the foxhole lads supporting the bigger teams in the league as always but I’m not so sure that the ridiculous abuse and language especially with the amount of kids watching was warranted? Let alone running onto the pitch and stealing our keepers towel etc during the game but I suppose when you haven’t beaten a team for years and lost a recent final we should expect that?

Think u pretty much covered the game mate, the game was fairly even till Ur 2nd goal,we were playing well n had hit the post then a bit of confusion where our lads thought Ur guy was off by a considerable amount n was waved play on this results in our CB being sin binned n it went down hill drastically then the goals went in in quick fire fashion,it's a.case of if we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all.

Always a pleasure playing torpoint even tho it's normally a defeat but top teams show us the difference in levels which we will try to achieve, good luck in the next round mate.
