Illogan RBL 3-2 Saltash Borough

HT: 2-1, FT: 2-2, AET: 3-2

This game started brightly with the visitors gaining an early lead with a cracking shot from the edge ot the area going in off the far post. Illogan responded with a series of corner kicks, one of which was headed in from close range for the equaliser. After further pressure, and more corner kicks, Illogan took the lead with a low shot from distance.

The second half began like the first with an early Saltash goal, the Illogan goalkeeper being lobbed from a wide position. After that the game began to get scrappy with few clearcut chances being created, and although Illogan continued to win corner kicks they no longer posed the threat that they had in the first half.

And so to extra time. With stoppages for injuries and substitutions and an endless stream of long balls it looked certain that a penalty shoot out was going to be needed to settle this affair. Then, right at the end, the referee spotted a handball in the Saltash penalty area and awarded a spot-kick, which was taken by the Illogan goalkeeper who hammered the ball to his opposite number's right. Despite going the right way and seemingly getting a good hand to the ball the shot had too much power for the keeper to prevent the goal, and that was that.
