DJH
Penryn 5 Redruth 0 Penryn scored 15', 55, 88, 90' 90' 3 goals in the last 5 to put a bit of a dampener on the scoreline, but not a dampener on the girls spirits as we pushed forward in the last 10 to try and grab a goal. 13 out of 15 playing thier first game and absolutely loved every second. Girls defended brilliantly today, and created a good number of chances. Penryn very well organised, a strong side and will be competing for the league I am sure this season. Thanks for your excellent hospitality also, and your warm welcome for our first ever match in the CWFL. Your chef knows what he is doing! GaryHocking
Bude Town 2 - 1 Mousehole Perfect conditions at Broadclose for Bude vs Mousehole - and full credit to Bude for being such excellent hosts. Bude started the game strongly with Sarah Badham scoring two high quality goals in the 6th and 9th minutes rounding Mousehole’s keeper for the first and chipping her for the second. Mousehole didn’t let their heads drop and tightened things up at the back with one of the centre halves dropping deeper to counteract Badham’s pace. The first half ended up about even in terms of possession and chances but Bude thoroughly deserved their 2-0 half time lead with both Badham and Bude’s keeper having an excellent 45 minutes. The second half was a different story, played mainly in Bude’s defensive half, but they showed they could defend just as well as they attacked in the first. Mousehole pulled one back on 52 when Jaz Spencer-Amos swept home a Sophie Wilson corner but the Bude back line gave nothing else away. Mousehole will have come away feeling they did enough to earn a point and Bude will feel they did enough to deserve all three - neither will be far wrong. Redruth played that game in amazing spirits and they can take a lot from it. Big credit goes to the Redruth Goalkeeper. It was her first game in goal and done amazingly well. The game overall was played in great spirits and both sides was an asset to the Cornwall womens football league. Thank you to Redruth for staying behind and also respecting the minute silence for the queen but also taking part in a minutes applause for Bakesy. The Chef really does know what he’s doing.
