The Earthbound Electrical CWFL present teams total of 18 teams (even plus the 4 playing higher) still doesn't total the highest 'record' of female teams which was 24 playing in 3 Division in the CWFL. Brief history. The Cornwall Women's Football League was established in 1998 with six teams Mullion, Roseudgeon, St Just, Penryn, Marazion and Mousehole. The first fixture being played in 1999 between Mousehole and Penryn, the result a narrow 2-1 win to Mousehole. The 1st match was officiated by David James who, with Neil Harvey who refereed the second fixture, both went on to become integral parts of the CWFL Committee and structure up until almost the present day. Over the following years women's football in Cornwall saw a dramatic growth to its peak of 24 team in 3 divisions playing in the CWFL. There are no founder member teams still consitently playing over those years although Penryn & Mousehole have returned! With 22/23 their 20th Consistent Season (19th in the League) St Agnes AFC Ladies is the longest sustaining Ladies team in Cornwall - 20 years is a massive achievement for any team at any level especially at Ladies football with the extra challenges it faces! Good luck to all Ladies teams from Cornwall competing at all levels this season! I was researching from CWFL entries! Because Bude have had long periods in the SWRWFL and a season in Devon (which looks like a missing era but wasn't) the CWFL entries doesn't reflect the ongoing continuity across the seasons! Well done to Bude a fabulous achievement too! Good luck to all teams for the 22/23 Season! Thecupfootballblogger and Gary Hocking
